November/December Books - Part I
I don't even know where to begin with Birdie and Harlow. I've followed Taylor on IG for years and think she's hilarious and while this book was funny it was unexpectedly poignant and touching. It was more about motherhood than I anticipated and I love how she interwove the stories. I was listening to it while grading exams at school and had to pause it and save it for when I got home because I knew I was going to lose it and MAN did I lose it. I sobbed and laughed and it was just so so good. I listened to it on audible which I think is an absolute must to really get the whole Har/Carl thing and I honestly just can't recommend this book enough. I loved everything about it.

Boursin Potatoes
Last week a friend tagged me in a reel of some Boursin cheesy potatoes and I immediately knew I had to make them. I looked at a few recipes and then just kind of winged it and they turned out DELISH! These would be great for Christmas as a side to steak or ham or you could serve them on a random Sunday night alongside meatloaf like I did ;) hahaha
What You'll Need...
- about 3 lbs of potatoes (I used Yukon gold)
- salt and pepper
- 1 cup cream, 1 cup milk (or 2 cups cream)
- 1 round of garlic and herb boursin cheese
- garlic, salt, and pepper
What You'll Do...
Wash your potatoes and pat to dry. Slice them thin (but not super thin).
Heat your cream/milk and Boursin until melted and combined. I really don't think it matters how much cream and/or milk. You just need about 2 cups. I wouldn't use all milk, but I used a mixture of cream, half and half and milk to make my 2 cups and it worked out just fine!
Place a layer of potatoes in a greased baking dish, crack on some pepper, sprinkle on some salt and toss on some chopped garlic. Pour on about half of the cream. Repeat with the rest of the potatoes, finishing with cream.
Pop them in the oven at 400ish for about an hour. Just keep an eye on them. You want the potatoes to be tender, but not too done... you know? I had mine in with a meatloaf at 375 for about 40 minutes and then cranked it up to 400 for the last 15 or so. Let them sit for a few minutes to thicken up and then serve all hot and bubbly.
My family gobbled these up so fast I didn't even have a chance to take an official pictures so I had to grab a screenshot of my IG story - hahaha Next time I make them I'll take better pics!

First up on my list of FAVORITES was seeing Prestonwood's Gift of Christmas last weekend with our entire crew plus my parents.

Teacher Gift Guide
Today I'm sharing gift ideas for teachers. I get this question A LOT this time of year so here we go! I know that this can be a bit overwhelming ESPECIALLY if you have a middle or high schooler (or both!) who have 7+ teachers and one idea is to find a few other parents in the same boat as you and pool your gifts together to get one gift card or other gift for each teacher. Keep that in mind as you're reading! ;)
My favorite teacher gift to give and receive are gift cards. $5 to Sonic or Starbucks... A Baskin Robins gift card to take their kids out for ice cream or a Cinemark card to check out a movie with their kids over break. A gift card for a local restaurant to enjoy a meal with their spouse or a gift card to their favorite store. EASY! Write a note, pop the card in the envelope and call it a day! I know gift cards get a bad wrap for being impersonal but I think if you pick a place that you know a teacher loves or write a note about enjoying a meal with their family it can make it super personal and special.

Guys Gift Guide
A couple of weeks ago I shared a "guys gifts under $25" guide and today I'm sharing a few more items that are a bit more expensive to round out the list.
Dave LOVES these polo shirts and the quality is out of this world. The collars are crisp and never get wrinkly and he attests to the fabric being "way better" than most other polos. He has a bunch at this point and loves them all.

Christmas Doodle Town
Having to change my original post for today due to a migraine and kid with an ear infection so I'm re-sharing my Christmas doodle town just in time for the last couple of weeks of school if you're a teacher and time at home with your kiddos or grandkids if you're not a teacher ;)
