I don't even know where to begin with Birdie and Harlow. I've followed Taylor on IG for years and think she's hilarious and while this book was funny it was unexpectedly poignant and touching. It was more about motherhood than I anticipated and I love how she interwove the stories. I was listening to it while grading exams at school and had to pause it and save it for when I got home because I knew I was going to lose it and MAN did I lose it. I sobbed and laughed and it was just so so good. I listened to it on audible which I think is an absolute must to really get the whole Har/Carl thing and I honestly just can't recommend this book enough. I loved everything about it.
This was an absolute train wreck. It was off the rails and so messy, but really gave a good look into what Britney's life has actually been like. I'm sure you've heard by now that she wrote about Justin Timberlake and an abortion and that part absolutely ripped my heart out for her - you can tell that she was VERY MUCH in an adolescent mindset and how she was treated by him as well as her manager was awful. It was scattered and random and juvenile at times, but overall I'm glad I listened and I definitely feel more empathetic toward her and how she's been treated.
This was a sweet read about Josie who leaves an abusive relationship in England and makes her way with her gelato maker to NYC. It was a bit formulaic and predictable, but an easy and endearing read nonetheless. I loved the peeks into Gio's family and the gelato element was unique. If you're looking for something fun and lighthearted and wintery give it a shot!
I really enjoyed the Senator's Wife even though I found a few of the characters pretty much unbearable at times. It's a psychological thriller which I LOVE and I definitely didn't see a few of the twists and turns coming. This kept me guessing and when I thought I had it figured out I was wrong - which is always a bonus ;)
Sally Hepworth can do no wrong in my book ;) I'm not sure I've read a single book of hers that I didn't love. While this isn't my all-time favorite of hers I really enjoyed it and still consider her the best "family dysfunction" writer. I always love how she weaves multiple storylines together and this one was no exception.
I've actually finished quite a few books since my last book post so I'll have part two of this post up next week! I'd love to know what you're reading and recommending so leave a comment below!
I have The Senator's Wife sitting on my bedside right now waiting to be read.
