Friday Favorites

Erika and I are so excited that lots of y'all are linking up with us every week.  Make sure that you're grabbing our graphic, linking back to us and sharing your own Friday Favorites post ;)

Y'all know drumline is one of our very FAVORITE things ever and there was a DCI competition in McKinney on Tuesday so when we heard there was going to be a drumline showcase put on my one of the groups we had to go check it out.

The event was SO GOOD but clearly listening to a drumline inside of a metal building when it was well over 100 degrees outside was NOT Griffin's FAVE ;) hahahaha

Dippin' dots though were a favorite ;)

This steak taco recipe has been a FAVORITE...

... I love that the "marinade" only takes 30 minutes and the meat comes out great every single time.  I'm planning on making  southwest bowls next week and using this steak instead of chicken and seeing how it goes.

We've been working on one of our FAVORITE puzzles this week.  It's a DOOZY and we're nowhere near done but that means I'll get to finish it on my own next week when they're all at camp ;)

This is the one we're doing if you're into puzzles - it's a really fun one and HUGE!

Y'all know that most of my FAVORITE dresses are Free People and I think I may have found  another great one!  I LOVE a midi length (great with so many shoe options) and am always on the hunt for dresses with sleeves so I don't feel like I need to wear a jacket with them at work.  Isn't it darling???

It also comes in  this great purple color - I ordered both and will keep you posted on which (if either!) I end up keeping.  I have several chambray dresses already so I'm hoping the purple is as pretty in person as it is online because I would love to add that color to my wardrobe.

I had no clue that my boys had never been to Cracker Barrel?!?!   Apparently it came up in conversation while.G and I were at Frozen and so Dave took them for "guys dinner" and they have a new FAVORITE restaurant ;) hahahaha

School supplies are one of my FAVORITE THINGS EVER and this recommendation from a teacher/mama friend is one of my new FAVORITE things...

One of the biggest hurdles for kids going from elementary to middle school can be the organizational challenges... nobody is telling them which folder and where to put things, they have 6+ teachers, etc.  She recommended  this as a homework folder and that's how Mason's planning on using it.  This will stay with him in his backpack and is where he'll put homework that he receives that needs to be completed as well as homework that's completed that he needs to turn in.  Hopefully having one "hub" for everything will help him stay organized and feel like he has a handle on homework!  (I also ordered him  this one that has 6 dividers since he has 6 classes - we'll see which one he decides to keep!)

Last, but not least - this crew is one of my very FAVORITES!  Can't believe they're all about to be in middle school!!!

HAPPY Friday, friends!!!

Home Movies - JUST DO IT

Back at the beginning of the summer I started my summer declutter by tackling my office closet.  On the top shelf of the closet has been this box labeled VHS tapes that I swear my mom gave me when she moved out of their old house back when I was pregnant with Luke.  It MAY have even been before that but either way I've had this box for YEARS and never even looked inside it.  When I was doing the purge I decided it was now or never with 30 tapes and so I started researching various places both online and local who could convert them to digital format for me.

What's Up Wednesday

Today I'm linking up with  Shay and  Sheaffer to talk a little bit about what's been going on around here!

I'm laughing so hard because the next paragraph is EXACTLY from my What's Up Wednesday post last month but it's true again!

After being in a bit of a cooking slump after getting back from our trip and then being sick I've been trying to step up my game a bit ;) It's been not 100 degrees yesterday so I'm whipping up a family favorite (Swedish meatballs) and am SO GLAD because it's one of my absolute favorite meals of all time.

I'm literally eating a bowl of swedish meatballs as I type this post!

All things B2S ;)

Today I thought I'd share some of our Back-to-school FAVORITES in case your crew is getting ready to head back like mine is!

Both my boys got  this backpack last year and they still look great!  I will buy North Face bags all day every day because THEY HOLD UP!!!

Family Camp Part 2

Wednesday is "off camp" day where families head off camp to go check out some local happenings.  Some people do the Horn Peak hike (a really big hike that starts right at camp), others go white water rafting, some check out the Royal Gorge, some visit other cities, etc.  Our first year we did the train that runs through the royal gorge and last year we did a day at our favorite resort in Colorado Springs.  This year we decided to do a day-long jeep tour!  We'd done a jeep tour in Vail and all the kids loved it so we figured we'd give it another shot and it was SUCH a great day!

Our FAVORITE grilled chicken

Today I'm sharing our favorite marinade for juicy and flavorful grilled chicken.  Everyone in my family loves this and I love that I can prep it in the morning and then not think about it the rest of the day :)

Family Camp Part 1

Today I'm sharing Part I of our trip to Sky Ranch Family Camp in Colorado!  This was our third summer to attend camp and we had a BLAST!  I've said it before but for us, family camp feels like a TRUE vacation because literally everything is handled.  From activities to food... everything is on site and it's truly relaxing.  GLORIOUS!!!

Seven Questions

You are TOO KIND!  I wash my hair about twice a week and I'm SUPER BASIC when it comes to products.  I typically wash it at night and use Pantene Sheer Volume shampoo, the Colleen Rothschild Quench and Shine Restorative Mask and then I shampoo again but generally just like my scalp and bangs (those areas get "dirtier" quicker and I find that shampooing after conditioning helps them stay cleaner feeling).  I shower at night, put two pumps of moroccanoil on it (focusing on the ends) and pull up as much of my hair as I can in a silk scrunchie and then in the morning I'll use this heat protectant dry it with this dryer brush and then hit any kinks or waves with my flat iron.  I also use this serum on my finished hair and will often use this before I blow dry.  I've been trying to minimize heat and not blow dry my hair from sopping wet anymore and I've definitely seen a difference in breakage.

Friday Favorites

Erika and I are so excited that lots of y'all are linking up with us every week.  Make sure that you're grabbing our graphic, linking back to us and sharing your own Friday Favorites post ;)

The past few days our family has been enjoying one of our FAVORITE weeks of the year - family camp in Colorado!  I'm writing this post a week early in the hopes that I don't have to get my computer out at all while we're on this trip so my FAVORITES are going to look a little different this week as I share a few of random things and a few FAVORITE finds and recent purchases.

Dave and I have a new FAVORITE show and it's SO GOOD!  It's a comedy but also a murder mystery and there are so many incredible actors in it.  Every character is perfectly cast and it's just WONDERFUL!

Mermaid Party

At our school auction this past Spring we bought a "spa night with senior girls" where a group of girls would come to your house and hang out painting nails, playing games, etc. G and her friends IDOLIZE the older girls at school so we were excited to get to do this and ended up pushing the date to the summer due to general end-of-the-year craziness.  We hosted it a couple of weekends ago and it was just the sweetest little night...

Amazon Lately

This has been a FUN month on my prime account ;) hahaha

First up are  these Diva air fresheners... we use this detergent (I'm aware that this is a polarizing topic of conversation - hahahaha) and I use these car air fresheners to keep our linen closet smelling FRESH! I open it about half way and then leave it in my sunscreen tub on one of the shelves and the whole closet smells INCREDIBLE! When I start noticing the scent is dissipating I'll open it the rest of the way and get another few weeks out of the scent.

PERFECT One-Pot Weeknight Past

Y'all know I'm constantly searching for an easy one-pot meal and YOU GUYS... this past a couldn't be easier and is so flipping yummy.  We eat it as a side dish (great with grilled chicken, pork chops, etc) and my kids ask for it all the time.   My favorite part is that you don't have to pre-cook the pasta and the fact that the ingredients are things that I pretty much always have in the pantry/fridge.

Day in the Life - Summer Edition

I shared a Day in the Life on IG earlier this summer but it ended up being a busier day that I initially thought it would be with appointments and kid activities so today I'm sharing a day where we had nothing "official" on the agenda other than early morning cross country practice for the boys.

The boys had to be there before 7:30 and Dave took them (PRAISE HANDS!!!) so I could have a bit more time to sleep.

First up on my list was one of my FAVORITE sports-mom moments to date ;) These four were the only boys at the game on Wednesday night and they played a team of about 10 boys (5 on the court) AND WON!  They were exhausted and fought hard for the entire game and their excitement with the win was SO MUCH FUN!  LET'S GO!!!

Reading Recap

People Like Her was a book that a friend gave me months ago and I kind of tabled it because it was a physical book and not on my kindle (I realize how dumb that sounds).  Well... I picked it up this summer and I'm so glad I did because I LOVED IT!!!!

First on my list were some REALLY PRETTY mornings this week.  It was a little bit cooler and there was a breeze and it was just gorgeous.  Picking the boys up from cross country at "the hill of pain" and checking out the geese and lake was a FAVORITE!
