On our last full day we woke up and did what we do best....
.... hang out on the deck and continuously talk about how beautiful the ocean is ;)
There were people with dogs down on the beach and a couple of surfers in the water and we sat out here for way too long watching, eating jelly toast, and enjoying the weather.
It's kind of hard to see because of that one tree in front of G, but there was a hiking trail from the beach up the hill and the boys decided they wanted to go check it out.
Apparently it was steep ;)
But the views were worth it!
I wouldn'tknow because G and I decided to chill in the hot tub while the boys hiked ;) AMEN.
When everyone got back we did another easy lunch and worked on a puzzle...
.... then spent the afternoon on the porch reading, playing games, etc.
We got treated to a mama and baby deer in the neighbors garden....
.... and the sun kept poking out which ALMOST enticed another trip down tot he beach, but ultimately we were having fun just hanging out at the house so that's just what we did.
G had a Jellycat photo shoot ;) hahaha
Muir Woods National Monument was only about a 10 minute drive from our house and I'd booked a parking time and park entry for around 4:30 that day so we packed up and headed that way.
You don't have to buy the parking pass - but I'm SO GLAD we did! The whole way there we could see people parking randomly along the road and walking up. It was WELL WORTH the $10 to have a spot!
This wa one of my very favorite parts of our entire trip. It was unbelievably calm and peaceful and the trees were just unreal.
We walked the full "loop" and it took us about an hour or so and we stopped along the way to look for fish in the creek, just take it all in, etc.
It could not have been prettier and will be a core memory for me for sure. My kids all enjoyed it, but I don't think it was on the top of any of their lists.
If you're wanting to spend more time there was a little cafe/restaurant and the gift shop was really pretty and had some really well-curated items in it as well.
Since we were already out we decided to check out the Muir Beach overlook
It's this long path out to a point where you can see literally forever. It was foggy when we went (common theme - hahaha) but still stunning.
I DO NOT like heights and this completely freaked me out BUT it was completely safe and I'd absolutely do it again ;)
It really felt like you were walking out into the sky. So cool.
We got back to the house and watched some Gilmore Girls on the deck...
... and then made one last dinner.
I'll wrap up my San Fran trip posts on Wednesday and will share pics of the house as well as the link to the rental. It was PERFECT for our family and I'm adding it to my list of favorite VRBO finds ;)
HAPPY Monday, friends!!!
