Weekend Recap

Whew! What a weekend!  We kicked things off on Friday with a friends afternoon for G...

... some student government banner painting for Luke...

.... and then a quick road trip to Tyler for me, Mason and G for Mason's XC state championship.  The BEST road trip snacks - no question!

Mason napped and G and I jammed out to my nineties country playlist....

... and then I had to send a pic to our family chat of my parking job since I was in an absolute BOAT of a rental hauling the XC tent and other equipment (a coach got sick so I ended up driving the gear last minute).

We stopped in at Stanleys BBQ which was recommended to us last year and where we now HAVE to stop at any time we're in Tyler.

It was G's first time and she loved it!

After an overabundance of bbq we headed to the hotel where these two watched some Shark Tank while I graded some papers before we all crashed for the night.

Since we had all of the gear we were up EXTRA early so we could get it all to Brook Hill in time to get everything set up and ready for the morning.

Both teams did AMAZING - girls AND boys teams both got 2nd in State and we couldn't have asked for a prettier morning.  G had fun taking pictures..

... and hanging out with some of her friends who are on the team.

I can't believe that Mason will be running with high school next year!  BITTERSWEET for sure!

Hands down the BEST part of XC has been the incredible team of coaches.  Forever grateful for their investment in my kids!

We loaded up and headed out, making a necessary Whataburger stop for 10:30 am cheeseburgers and then made it back to McKinney to drop off the rental car and head straight to school so G could be at the Lil Stangs cheer clinic and I could get started on some Homecoming signs for the MS courtyard.

Lil stangs is our elementary cheer program where the girls go to a couple of clinics a year with the MS and HS cheerleaders and then get to cheer at a pep rally and part of the homecoming game.  G has attended every single one since she was 4 and this year she was one of the "big girls" which is CRAZY to me!

While she was cheering Mason and I met up with a couple of high school girls I had recruited to get some spirit signs painted for the courtyard.  Homecoming week is this week which warranted some fun decorations in the middle school courtyard.

I had these giant foam boards and so I had Luke drill holes in them and then attach them to the fences using zip ties.

I bought a TON of paint and foam brushes and we spent a few hours painting and making things look fun for the week.

We kept things pretty generic so we can (hopefully) bring them out every year.

They turned out so cute!

Other weekend highlights included some spa time for Rosie...

... my plants thriving with some cooler overnight weather...

... this cutie girl...

... and a sit-down family dinner after a crazy busy weekend of pieced together leftover meals, eating out, and at least one of us gone at all times.

HAPPY Monday, friends!!!
