Several of y'all have asked about where we stayed in Vail as well as how Griffin slept so I'm going to answer those questions quick before I dive into my FAVORITES for the week.
We didn't want to stay in a hotel because we wanted to be able to eat breakfast in our pajamas at "home" :) and wanted a comfortable place to crash in the evenings with a place for the kids to run around outside. This townhouse was part of a racquet club which also fave us access to swimming, tennis, etc.
We hung out a lot out here - movies, etc. at night.
And the kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast here every morning (eggs and such) and not worry about being out the door and to a restaurant super early.
The master bedroom, bathroom and loft area were upstairs and the views were GORGEOUS! The creek ran directly behind the house.
In the walkout basement level there was a bunk room with two sets of bunk beds and it's own bathroom...
.... and a second bedroom with it's own bathroom.
Having the kids all in the basement and Dave and I four sets of stairs above them kind of freaked me out (I know, I know... but we didn't have a monitor with us) so we actually stayed in this second downstairs bedroom and the kids slept in the bunks. Griffin went to bed before the boys, but they would be extra quiet when we put them in later and we never had an issue. Later in the week the boys decided they wanted to sleep in the big bed upstairs so that's where they slept. We would put Griffin in the bottom bunk with her pillow and blanket and such and do our normal "you are my sunshine" and bedtime prayers routine, turn out the light and leave and she never once cried or got out of the bed. Our routine at home is really short and sweet (I learned that lesson with Luke when we had to read 5 books, sing 3 songs, rock for 7 minutes and then have back rubbing. hahaha) and it worked well on vacation as well.
If you want more details for where we stayed you can find all the info HERE.
Up first today are Jack Bauer and Griffin. They are most definitely each others FAVORITE right now and they were so glad to be reunited after a week apart.
I think he may just like to lick crumbs off her face :)
One of my FAVORITE Fall memories from growing up is apple picking as a family and then my mom making apple sauce. Yesterday I picked up three pounds of apples (Gala and Jazz), sliced them up and threw them in the crockpot with 1/2 cup of water.
I cooked them on low for about 6 hours until they were super mushy...
... and then blended them all up in my blender.
It wasn't quite as magical as picking the apples and having my mom make it for me, but it was still delicious. Next time I make it I'll add in some cinnamon, but it's great just as it is. If your kids love applesauce you should try this out... it's definitely not like store bought, but it's yum!
Before we left for Vail I ordered this top and I finally had a chance to slip it on yesterday and I'm in LOVE! I definitely think it will be a FAVORITE this Fall/Winter.
It's slouchy, but not sloppy and lightweight, but warm. It's awesome.
I tried it on with these jeans and I have a feeling this ensemble will be on repeat come October.
Another item on repeat? The blardigan. I've worn it every single day since it arrived. It's heavenly.
Next up, these two cuties in their monogrammed swimsuits are some of my very FAVORITE FAVORITES ;)
I mean, could they be any more precious?!?!?!
I've mentioned before that I watch A LOT of Netflix while I blog, design, lesson plan, etc. Well, I dove headfirst into Pretty Little Liars and I'm TOTALLY hooked. It's my new FAVORITE show for sure. And yes, apparently I'm 14. I don't even care it's so good ;)
Next, I've had SO much fun uploading the pictures from Luke's GoPro. This video from our time in Breckenridge CRACKS ME UP!!! "So, I hear you're french!" #idie
Last, mark your calendars! Fall Matilda Jane is coming next weekend and it's shaping up to be my FAVORITE line EVER!
The line will go live on Sunday, August 2nd and you'll be able to send wishlists in to me and Kat that day. If you're local, I'd LOVE to see you at my in-person trunk show that afternoon! Join me and Kat at Stonebridge Country Club from 3:00 - 6:00 to check out the clothes in person. Shoot me an email at dave-and-andrea@hotmail.com if you plan on coming and bring a friend (or two!)
Happy Friday, friends!!!

DeleteThat condo looks amazing!! What a great and cozy space to stay during vacation!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was GREAT! Lots of space for everyone to run around ;)
DeleteCan you tell us more about the gopro? What model is it? Is it waterproof? My family is going to Hawaii in a couple of months and I'm looking for a good waterproof camera.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I loved your ideas from yesterday, especially the wreath. You are incredibly crafty. I don't know if you've thought about opening an etsy shop?
Not sure what model it is, but it came with a waterproof case. I'll see if I can find the box and will post more next week :)
DeleteApplesauce, sweaters, Vail, Ashby, matching swimsuits...there is just too much I love!!
ReplyDeleteRight?!?! It may have been my FAVORITE favorites post :) hahaha
DeleteThat picture of Jack Bauer licking Griffin's face is both adorable yet also one of my biggest nightmares. Hahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing so hard!!! You can send your kids over to mouth kiss him anytime :)
DeleteHomemade apple sauce! Because OF COURSE!!!!!!!!! Those pics of G and JB are precious!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha :) OF COURSE!
DeleteI've never purchased MJ - my daughter is only 3 months old - but I'm thinking this adorable new line will be the perfect time to start:) Can't wait! Loving the sweet photos of Griffin and Ashby in their matching swim suits. Happy Friday, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! I'm hoping that there are several baby items :) And G and Ashby are the SWEETEST!
DeleteLooks like you all had a great time. Was that a Christmas tree in the living room?
ReplyDeleteWe had a great time! And the Christmas tree was in the picture which I pulled from the VRBO website... it wasn't up while we were there :)
DeleteOh my gosh that video!! That is hilarious. So fun that you gave the Go Pro to him to use...I think it will be so cool to get his perspective. Looks like the perfect little family vacation....I'm needing one of those!
ReplyDeleteIt was just what we needed! And yes... we are having so much fun watching his videos :)
DeleteLove PLL! No shame in my game there. :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Me too!!! LOVE IT!
DeleteYou must try adding red hots to your applesauce!
ReplyDeleteThe candy??? I'm intrigued!
DeleteDon't worry, I love PLL too. (14-year-olds unite!) The season that's on currently is the best one yet! So definitely keep watching. :)
ReplyDeleteEEEK!!! Can't wait! I'm watching right now and I just started Season 4!
DeletePictures of Griffin and Jack Bauer never get old - her sweet curls are the best!.
ReplyDeleteAwwww!!! Thank you! :)
DeleteLOVE PLL! My husband knows not to try to talk to me while it's on (but thank God for TiVo and for the fact that in the summer and fall, he is at football practice on weeknights!)
ReplyDeleteDave came in the other night and asked what was happening on the show, I gave him the side eye and he returned to sports center :) hahaha
Delete$500.00 a night for a town house? Thats insane.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually under $300... not sure where you're getting your info considering I posted the link to the listing. I'm sure it's more during ski season, but you also have to consider that there are beds for 8 as well. It's pretty not insane in reality :)
DeleteLol! I just returned from Washington dc and stayed in a not super fancy hotel that was $400/night for a small room! So $300/night for a town home sounds like a steal to me :)
DeleteWhoa, whoa, whoa Anonymous.
DeleteYou didn't even bother to check the varying seasonal rates and then come here to dump a loaded comment like that? Really, I would question why would you even feel the need to do that.
Most people I know would consider less than $300 for a top notch, fully equipped townhouse (in Vail no less) to be a very reasonable price and probably far more economical and practical than any hotel in the area considering the flexibility and amenities it offers for a family with young children. Andrea, I am loving all your photos, Vail was such a great choice. So happy that you and your family enjoyed your vacation road trip and your kids look like they had a great time too! Sue Baker, Breckenridge. :-)
What a cool rental! We LOVE VRBO!! Hotels are so impractical with littles!! Great idea to go to Vail in the off season to get the lowest rate!! We do that with beach rentals!! I know it was nice to get away for a bit! Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lora! We had the best time as a family and yes... I can't imagine a week in a hotel with my crew! hahaha
DeleteI'm ready for fall that's all!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!!!
DeleteI love your cowl neck sweater!!! Can you advise on the fit? Does it run big?
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's definitely an oversized fit... but that's the design. The arms are still fitted if that helps :)
DeleteI LOVE how you did the applesauce... And that rental is just devine !
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda! HAve a fabulous weekend!
DeleteBe prepared to have a love/hate relationship with Pretty Little Liars! It's so good but it's so crazy that you can never figure out the mystery and it'll drive you nuts! And it's not just for teens either, both my mom and dad watch it at home by themselves because it's just that good. I'm 24 and ive been hooked since day 1! :)
ReplyDeleteUGH!!!! Just when I think I have it figured out there's a twist! Love that your parents watch it :) Have a fabulous weekend!
DeleteMmm homemade apple sauce. I wanna make some come fall.
ReplyDeleteMakes your house smell so good, too! :)
DeleteLove PLL!! And it only gets better!! I wait to watch when all of the kiddos are in bed! 😉
ReplyDeleteMe too! I countdown to bedtime and PLL :) hahaha
DeleteI started watching PLL in college, and now I can't stop because I HAVE to know who A is haha. It can be addicting haha!
ReplyDeleteThe must-have blardigan is only available in a L/XL at the moment. :( Do you think they will restock with smaller sizes and if so, when?
ReplyDeleteI am a huge PLL fan...it sucks you in! I also purchased the blardigan this sale and I cannot wait to wear it! SO soft!
ReplyDeleteHi! I wanted to see how to get more info on the Matilda Jane clothes. I know we might want grandparents to order too but wasn't sure how to get/host a party or what. Any help?!?! Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, Kami! I'm going to reply to you via email so I can make sure you get it :)
