Lines

I LOVE to color in coloring books - I think it's relaxing and soothing and I REALLY want Luke to enjoy sitting quietly and coloring (preferably for long periods of time - hahahaha). His artistic tendencies lean more toward drawing dozens and dozens of lines as fast as he can with markers. On Sunday night, while I was making dinner (Pioneer Woman's chicken spaghetti - go and make it NOW! It's sooooooooo good! I leave out the cayenne pepper and pimentos), Luke was sitting at the kitchen table drawing lines and when he came to show me his picture I saw that the lines weren't contained to just the paper...

When I asked him how and why he had marker lines all over his face he informed me that he had been measuring his face to see how big it was (not sure what that has to do with markers, but okay) and that his face was six inches long (a bus that we saw on our way home from church that day was also six inches long - hahaha). The masterpiece that he created while pantless (duh!) is proudly displayed on our fridge and thankfully, the masterpiece on his face is long gone :)

Awesome

Luke has really taken to calling things awesome... "I very like this AWESOME car, Mommy!", "May I please have one of those AWESOME cookies?". So when I saw this shirt I knew that he had to have it (plus, as Luke pointed out, it's blue just like his eyes) hehehe As you can see, my squirrely three-year-old REFUSES to look at the camera... can't wait until he'll look at me, smile and I won't have to say things like "get your finger out of your nose" when I get my camera out :)

I thought that maybe if I stood with him and we had our picture taken together that I could get him to look and smile - WRONG!

We eventually gave up and came inside at which point he decided it would be a good idea to sit in his big tub of macaroni noodles and play - AWESOME!

Random

Luke had an orange lunch a few days ago in honor of the orange lettering on his shirt... a letter "L" made out of cheese cubes, a pimento cheese sandwich (ew, gross - Dave got him hooked), cheetos, mandarin oranges and carrots. :) Saturday night we found him sleeping like this... we thought he looked a little like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever :)

Please note that when I tuck him in at night he IS covered (with a comforter and several little blankets), but inevitably when we check on him he's uncovered - EVERY time.

Like Mother, Like Son

As soon as Mason was born my parents started telling me how much they thought he looked like me as a baby - so I went looking through pictures and here are a few of me during my first month... thoughts?!?!?!
He definitely has the same "furrowed brow" that I had/have and our faces are shaped the same, and I kind of think that he may have my nose also. And maybe the same chin???

Beach - Take 2

On Wednesday night we were running some errands in Allen (shoe shopping for Luke, sound machine for Mason, etc., etc., etc.) and decided to let Luke run around at the beach for a little bit before heading home. He finally worked up the nerve to do the slide (he is very "un-adventurous" for a three-year-old boy... quite okay with this mama!)

Mason ate and then was ready for some snuggle time :)

Staying in Bed

When we put Luke to bed at night (typically between 7:30 and 8:00) we've been letting him look at books for about 30 minutes. It's so sweet because we can hear him reading to himself and he generally falls asleep with a book on his chest :) On Monday night we gave him his books and instructed him to "stay in his bed" like we do every night. When Dave whent in to check on him about 30 minutes later this is what we found...

... Since he had been instructed to "stay in bed" he decided to pile ALL of his toys into his bed with him so that he could play :)

On a side note: You'll notice the big, ghetto hole in his blinds... last summer he took a liking to "peeking" out of his window at night by bending back the pieces of the blinds. Eventually they snapped off and this is what we were left with. Until we're 100% positive that he's done peeking we're not replacing them. hahaha.

Quite often when I leave in the morning or when Dave gets home at night you can see Luke's little face peeking through the hole.

Second Home

I think we may have a second home this Spring - the Beach at Fairview. For those of y'all who don't live around hear (mainly all of my Canadian relatives), there's this HUGE new outdoor shopping center with TONS of shops, restaurants, etc. and they have a big "beach" area for kids to play in. We've already been about 10 times, so expect a bunch of pictures of Luke running around in the sand...







Mason was there too... he nursed and then passed out in his stroller...

Think he likes it?!?!?! Can you tell that both his feet are off the ground?!?!?! :) hehehe

It was a GORGEOUS day on Monday and when we got there the place was pretty empty. By the time we left it was PACKED with moms and kids and TONS AND TONS of little boys.

Luke made several new friends and built lots of sandcastles (only to jump on them and giggle).

This is unrelated other than the fact that this is a picture of Mason when we got home... but if you're in the market for a baby swing, the one we have is THE BEST ONE EVER! First of all, it plugs in - our old swing was CONSTANTLY eating through D batteries and it's so nice that we don't have to worry about this one grinding to a halt in the middle of a nap. Also, you can remove the seat part of it and your car seat snaps in... so when we get home from running errands I can just pop the whole car seat in there, turn the swing on and not worry about Mason waking up - it's AWESOME!
