Favorite Things Party: Favorite Organizational Tools

Happy Monday, Friends!  Before I dive into the last Favorite Things Party of 2015, I wanted to take a minute to talk about the tragic tornadoes that hit Rowlett and Garland - cities not far from where we live.  I'm sure everyone has heard, but about 11 tornadoes ripped through several Dallas suburbs resulting in immeasurable damage and lives lost.  I can't imagine.

Several people have gotten in touch with me to ask about how to help and after talking with a few people I have an answer for you.  Friends of ours, Josh and Courtney, started Mission Regan in 2010 and they're on the ground helping out.

They're currently collecting diapers, formula and baby food and you can get in touch with them HERE to arrange drop-off.  If you're not local, you can donate online at https://www.missionregan.org/partners and put "tornado relief" in the notes.

Also, Mission Regan has a warehouse full of medical supplies that they send worldwide available to people in need - so if you know of someone affected by the tornadoes who needs nebulizers, needles, ostomy supplies, cath supplies, and virtually anything else - get in touch with Mission Regan and they can help fill those needs.

I can hardly believe it's the LAST Favorite Things Party of 2015!  I have so enjoyed sharing lots of favorites with all of you and reading about your favorite things as well.

For our last party we're talking favorite organizational items and I have a few that I'm excited to share (again!).

First up are these acrylic drawer organizers.  They're amazingly sturdy and have managed to keep me organized and orderly all year long.  Best part... the 6-section organizer is under $10!!!

(my drawer fit the 6-section next to the 3-section)

Next up are these small flip-top storage boxes.  They're perfect for nail polish, kids toys, markers and other miscellaneous items.  I love that the lids are attached so you (read: kids) can't lose track of them.

I'm also a fan of their larger counterpart ;)  We don't have a playroom, so we store the kids toys in their closets and these are a great size for MagFormers, plastic animals and other sets.

Another favorite organizational tool I use are recycling containers and boxes to organize our craft closet.

I love using candle jars to store small craft supplies.  When the candle is done, I pour boiling water in the jar, wash it out with soap and water (sometimes it requires a little scrubbing) and voila!  Love that they have lids as well.

Last up on my list is my Day Designer.  I was given one to review last spring and I fell in LOVE!  The thick paper, the sturdy cover, the strong tabs - I love it all.

I'm keeping track of lots of schedules, appointments and to-dos and love that the Day Designer gives me lots of space to write both monthly...

... and daily.  I write down TONS and love having it all in one spot.

(PS - my favorite pens to use are these and these)

And thanks to the lovely Whitney English and other girls at Day Designer I'm giving away one of their mini editions to one of you!  Just in time to get organized for 2016!

There are several ways to enter, so be sure to check them out below!

Last up, Erika and I are switching things up for 2016 and instead of hosting our monthly Favorite Things Parties we're going to be starting new series...

We decided to go with more open-ended topics so everyone could join in and there's really no right or wrong way to participate.  Mark your calendars, girls!

Favorite Things Party - Accessories

Happy Monday, Friends!  Our weekend was so much fun and I can't wait to share that with y'all tomorrow!  Today is Erika an my Favorite Things Party and today we're talking about our favorite accessories!!!

Originally I was going to talk about some of my favorite Spring scarves, but then Erika's kids gave Mason and Griffin new sunglasses as part of their birthday gifts and this post was born :)

Mason received these aviators and I immediately felt like he should break into "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" ;)

These have been his FAVORITE accessory all week.

And since we're talking aviators, one of my very favorite pictures EVER of Luke is this one from the summer of 2012...

Erika picked out these heart-shaped frames for Miss Priss and love is an understatement.  Instant sass!

Monday morning snackeez, paci and sunnies.  Duh.

JUST TO CLARIFY.... my note below was not in response to any comment or "meanness".  A couple of you have emailed me about it and apparently it didn't come across the way it sounded in my head....  I've just been asked A LOT lately about when we are planning on taking away the paci since she's two now and so I was attempting to answer that question proactively.  ;)   Sincere apologies if it comes across as anything else!

And no.... we don't have plans to take her paci away anytime soon.  Typically she has it only at bedtime, but her eye teeth are doing a number on her sweet self and so we've been relaxed about our paci rules for everyone's sake.  Both the boys LOVED their pacis and giving them up WHEN THEY WERE READY was no big deal.  My dentist has told us that as long as she doesn't have it when she gets her adult teeth, she'll be fine :)  And considering that Luke is 7 and hasn't lost a single tooth, I think we're good to go for a while.

If you're looking for cute kids sunglasses, GAP always has great ones.  I love this pair for Mason and this pair for Luke and I think GG would ROCK this pair at the pool this summer. :)

And if you're looking for new sunglasses for yourself, THIS PAIR is one of my favorites (and they're $50 off!!!) and THIS PAIR is only $12!!!  (I tend to lose sunglasses... so I usually lean toward the $12 pairs. hahaha)

I've blogged before about the "ringer scarves" from Nordstrom and how perfect they are for Spring and Summer (think paired with a maxi dress) and in case you missed the memo, you can find them HERE.  They're lightweight and pretty much "foolproof".

I'm excited to see everyone else's favorite accessories!  Link up with us below and share!  And if you're not linking up this month, mark your calendar for May!

Favorite Things Party - Target Edition

It's Favorite Things Party Day! WOO HOO!!  Honestly, I almost forgot about it - and then my trip to Target got canceled due to freezing rain (and a nap), but it all worked out - because I got sucked into the rabbit hole that is the Target website and found some great stuff :)

So last week I posted this pictures about my Sid Dickens blocks asking for advice on where I should put another row/column or whether I should start a new wall.  The overwhelming response was another low on the bottom... which I loved, but makes me nervous with expensive memory blocks and little hands (and bouncing balls, flying frisbees and other shenanigans going on).  I decided to start a new wall, and started looking for the perfect spot.

Ultimately, I decided on the wall above this tall dresser in our bedroom.   You see it right when you walk in and I think they'll look really pretty.  BUT I didn't love the look of the tiles with our current duvet cover...

So this led to a bedroom "mini makeover". hahaha
Welcome to inside my brain, friends :)

We're not ready to get new furniture right now (I still really like ours) and I'm not willing to paint - because that would mean painting our adjoining office and bathroom.  Ugh.  So for right now I'm dealing with the border and considering removing or painting over it this summer.

Anyway, back to the mini makeover.  I ordered this duvet cover and shams from Pottery Barn last week and snagged some white sheets for a STEAL on HauteLook as well.  I'm thinking that the solid duvet will be an easy change and will give me a little more freedom with accessories and rugs and such.

I am a pillow-a-holic and Target is NOT disappointing right now.

And I'm loving all three of these mixed in with the floral.

I want to update the lamps on our nightstands and am HOOKED on mercury glass. This mercury glass lamp is awesome, but I think it's going to be too short for bedside.  I do think it would be great on the tall dresser (the one I'm putting the memory blocks above).

I'm wanting to move our bed and night stands over to the right (when you're facing the bed) and put a chair in the corner.  I am LOVING this one!  With one of the fun pillows from above on it and a throw draped over the back.

And above the chair, I'm thinking of hanging three frames like this one vertically.  I have plans to fill them with some fabulous black and white pictures from our amazing photographer :)

Right now we have an iron piece above our bed, which I don't mind, but I also wouldn't mind having two (or three) of these in it's place :) hahaha
In other Target news...

I'm pretty sure this super cute weekend bag would be the perfect bag to tote along when I chaperone the 8th grade trip to NASA in a couple weeks.  It seems like it would have enough room for all my chaperoning essentials... .like my own pillow, ibuprofen and a sense of humor :) hahaha

And since we're talking about chaperoning, I'll more than likely be bringing this $10 nailpolish set so we can do manis in the hotel at midnight.  Because when in Rome :)

Back tomorrow with the weekend recap and then don't forget to mark your calendar for next months favorite things party when we share about your favorite polish!  We're having an "ice day" today, so while you're reading this I'm probably either cleaning up a meal, or making a meal/snack... because when they're home it seems like they eat CONSTANTLY. hahaha

One last thing - y'all need to head over to Sheaffer's blog today because she's doing her Special Mama giveaway again!  This time she's giving away a $1000 gift card to an extra special mama of a child with special needs.  Head over there to nominate your friends and family members!

Happy Monday, Friends!!!

Favorite Things 2015

Happy Monday, friends!  I'm postponing my regular "weekend wrap-up" for a super fun announcement!  Erika and I are bringing back FAVORITE THINGS starting today!  Last year, on the last Monday of every month we hosted a linky party where everyone shared their favorite finds under $10.  This year we decided to mix it up a bit!

Today, Erika and I are sharing our regular "Under $10" finds, but for the rest of the year, the topics vary month to month and don't have to be under $10.  I think it'll spice it up a bit and keep things interesting!

My finds today are from one of my favorite stores, Altard State.   They're a Christian company that has unique and fun clothes, jewelry, accessories and gifts.  Lots of their products "give back" and a portion goes to charity and there's even a prayer request section on their webpage where you can submit a prayer request.  How cool is that???

Anyway, I was running some errands yesterday after an Open House at MCA and popped in to my local store.  Their sale items were an additional 70% off and even though it was pretty picked over, I found this cute headband...  (was $25, but I got it for $6)

and I slipped it on before running in to the grocery store to try to give you an idea of how I'll wear it. hahaha  Also - yes.... I chopped off my hair :)  I posted about it on IG and I'll talk more about donating 14" to Locks of Love tomorrow.  This was my second time to donate and it was extra special this time around.

I also found this sweet little trio of elasticized bracelets...

Look how cute they are!

And as cute as I think they are - I think they'll look even cuter on one of y'all! :)  It's a teeny tiny gesture of appreciation  - so leave a comment on today's post and I'll pick one of y'all tonight to drop it in the mail to.  Happy Mail!

Last... TULIPS!!!  There were on sale for $10 at my local grocery store and they're one of my very favorite little "pick me ups" this time of the year.  LOVE tulips!

So.... what are your favorites under $10 right now?  Blog about them any time this week and then link up with us below!  You can add your posts any time before Saturday.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the other 2015 dates and then come back tomorrow to see if you're getting some bracelets in the mail ;)

Have a FANTASTIC day, girls!!!
