Back to School Touches

 

Well... believe it or not summer is coming to an end! I went back to work this week and my kids go back next week. A couple of weeks ago I packed up the red, white, and blue and got out my back-to-school bin. I'm not ready to commit to Fall decor since it's not even close to being Fall but I can definitely get on board with some school-related decor ;) 

Up first is this banner that I had made years ago (the Etsy seller no longer exists - sorry!) that says "Who and Whose". Growing up my mom would always tell us to remember who we are and whose we are and it always feels fitting for back to school.

I printed a bunch of "first day" pics using Inkifi (I get the retro prints) and have them in a cute little vintage dish/bowl thing on the coffee table. 

I do this for most seasons and it's super fun to have them out to flip through.

Other than that it's just an orchid (which I have no clue how to care for... it lost all it's blooms so do I just leave it?!?!?!) in a vintage champagne bucker and a candle and some matches in another little vintage vessel.

Okay - so let's talk this giant abacus. A few years ago I posted about one of these that I had seen for literal YEARS at a local antique mall. I loved everything about it but it was crazy expensive so I never even considered buying it. Literally the same weekend I posted about it on my stories I happened to find one on FB Marketplace for NOTHING! I don't remember the exact price - but I feel like it was something like $30. I jumped on it and love it so much, but couldn't find the perfect spot for it this year.  I'm still playing around with it ;) 

A couple of years ago I tucked it into this little alcove thing in our family room but I have a picture up there now and didn't feel like taking it down. hahaha. So it's currently on our kitchen table even though it's gigantic.

Isn't it so cool though?!?!?!

I'm only linking these up so y'all can see why I was SO EXCITED to find one on FB for nothing! hahaha

Speaking of FB Marketplace - I found this cabinet on there back at the end of June and have LOVED getting to decorate it!

I filled 'er up with some cute vintage goodies and dishes/serving pieces that I use often...

I've been collecting these little bits and pieces over the years and kind of scattering them around the house in various spots so it's fun to have them all in one cohesive spot.

This little trophy was a recent find and I think it's just about the cutest thing ever. The books I found at a thrift store and the Charlotte's Web book was mine when I was little. Nothing will make you feel old like realizing your childhood books are "vintage". hahahahaha

Okay - back to the abacus.... here is where I had it first.... but I couldn't decide if I liked it hence the move to the kitchen table.

And just in case you were thinking my house was all cute and put together just know that this is what my dining room table looked like when I took those pics ;)
