Mason's King of the Hill Birthday Dinner

Mason turned 15 last Thursday and we celebrated him with a King of the Hill themed birthday dinner ;) He LOVES the show and we have so many family jokes using lines from it so it felt very "him" and very fitting for the occasion ;)

There's not a lot of King of the Hill party decor to choose from so I found this Hank Hill figurine on Amazon and paired it with the $1 number candles from Walmart and together they made the perfect topper for Mason's requested Dr. Pepper cake.

I found a cute roll of blue plaid paper at Homegoods and felt like it was neutral enough to use as a base for the stickers I as going to use on the table and then when this Dale Gribble hat came in from Etsy I knew I needed to use the orange ribbon I had on hand to tie it all together.

Dale is a character from the show and he wears this "Mack" hat that I felt like Mason would abslolutely love (since our last name is "Mac") and then I found the sticker to match ;)

There's not a lot of King of the Hill party decor out there so I decided just to buy a bunch of vinyl stickers and use those on the table to tie in the theme.  I bought them all on Etsy and Mason is pumped to use the on his laptop, binders, Yeti cooler, etc.

Simple but CUTE! I really think the biggest "trick" is using a roll of wrapping paper as a runner - it instantly adds so much!

I thought I had orange napkins, but it turns out they were actually red - which worked out just fine ;)

On their birthdays I let the kids each pick their menu and Mason requested brisket (both chopped and sliced), sausage, and macaroni and cheese.  EASY!

We don't have a smoker so I do the brisket in the oven - I'll write that out and share it here at some point ;) The sausage is just Chapel Hill brand (our FAVE) and we just slice it and cook it on the stove.

This is my family's favorite mac and cheese recipe - I doubled it because they're all insane but we still had a TON leftover for lunches the following few days ;)

Actually - I kind of more than double it. I use 2 lbs of pasta, 6 tbsp butter, 6 tbsp flour, 4 cups half and half and the whole 2 lb block of velveeta.

I also made this broccoli salad because some of us did not just want meat ;) hahahaha

It was SUCH a fun way to celebrate Mason and will go down as one of my favorite dinner themes to date.

Happy Monday, friends!!!
