Mason's Bday Dinner ;)

Special birthday dinners are something that we kind of started during covid - when I was trying anything and everything to bring some fun and excitement to my kids birthdays which were smack dab in the middle of everything and they're one of my FAVORITE traditions.  As my kids have gotten older and moved away from "themed" parties I'm here for ANY excuse for a fun and themed event and LOVE flexing my creative muscles a bit in creating something that's fun and makes them feel special.  I will say that for Luke this year he just kept saying, "I really only want smoked turkey and baked potatoes" and I had potato balloons ordered that never showed so we just went heavy on the food and called it a day (and he is no worse for the wear) but Mason and G have been asking me what their "themes" were going to be for DAYS and I was more than happy to oblige them with something special.

Mason has spoken often about how his DREAM is to own a dozen dachshunds and dress them all in jerseys and sweaters (random, I know!) so for his 12th birthday I had to do a nod to the 12 dogs he aspires to have ;) hahahaha

This year Mason asked me to make meatloaf...

... and macaroni and cheese and his wish was my command!  I made my meatloaf with 3 lbs of meat instead of 2 and doubled my mac and cheese recipe since my parents were going to be over and I knew Mason would want to take leftovers for lunches for a couple of days and he was SO EXCITED!!!

Mason isn't a huge cake guy so he asked for chocolate chip cookies...

... and then I made things festive with this cake topper...

and  the coordinating banner which I disassembled and used as a mobile of sorts ;) hahaha

The polka dot runner was a super old roll of wrapping paper I had in my craft closet...

... and I found these super fun plates at Home Goods the day before and they kind of tied it all together.

We ate, hung out, Mason opened presents and it was such a fun time.

He's always been a great "recipient" and this year was no exception.

I still can't believe he'll be a teenager next year!!!

HAPPY WEdnesday, friends!!!
