PNW Trip: Seattle to Olympia Day

After a travel/baseball day on Sunday and a FULL day in the city on Monday we were dragging just a bit on Tuesday morning ;) We grabbed some breakfast at the hotel (again - omelette bar was SO GOOD!) and then packed up and headed out...

... I talked about the hotel more in  THIS POST but we couldn't have been happier with EVERYTHING.  Location, amenities, room size... it was all great.  It was the Embassy Suites at Pioneer Square and I would 10/10 recommend.

Every time I go somewhere cooler in the summer I'm always blown away by the flowers EVERYWHERE.  If you live somewhere where you can grow this kind of gorgeousness effortlessly in the summer BE GRATEFUL! ;)

We hopped in the rental car and drove over to the space needle area, parked in a garage....

... and went to Chihuly Garden and Glass.

Funny enough, this was something high up on my list and when I was telling the kids about it I was expecting some resistance because it didn't seem as "fun" as other things BUT they were all excited!  Apparently Mason learned about Chihuly in art class and he got the other two hyped up for it ;)

IT WAS UNREAL!  I took a million photos but none of them do any of it justice.

Every room/exhibit was more stunning than the last...

At the very end you walk into this glass atrium room....

... and I really feel like that alone is worth the visit.

There are gardens outside filled with more art...

... and the prettiest flowers and plants.

We got to watch a demonstration and then headed back to the car with a pitstop at this park outside the museum of pop culture...

After that we loaded up and drove the hour or so to Olympia...

... where we stopped for lunch at Tugboat Annie's.

We sat out on the deck and enjoyed the water...

... and a super delicious meal (that wasn't Fat Shack or an omelette... amen!).

If you somehow end up there PLEASE FOR THE LOVE get the mud pie.  PLEASE!

It was a perfect spot and we had great service and awesome weather.

We still had a bit of time to kill before we could head to our rental house so we decided to make a pitstop at the capital...

... which was SUPER impressive!

It was beautiful inside and if we'd had more time we absolutely would have taken a tour.

After the capital we popped over to Costco and Walmart to grab some groceries for the week...

... and then drove the rest of the way (maybe 20 minutes) to the house we were renting.

YOU GUYS!!!

This house looked WONDERFUL in the listing but we weren't prepared for just how incredible it was.  I'll share more in a later post, but you can head over to my instagram highlights for a walk through and the link if you're interested.

We got the car unloaded, our groceries put away and pretty much IMMEDIATELY got out on the water.

That's Mount Rainer in the background.

HAPPY Wednesday, friends!!!

  4. That sounds wonderful! We've been to a much smaller Chihuly museum in Tampa and I just loved his work so much.

  5. We are heading to Seattle next month and I am most excited about going to the Chihuly museum and have been a little worried it wouldn't live up to my hype. You have made me even more excited.
