Day In The Life

Y'all know that I'm a HEAVY sleeper and typically a sleep-in until the very last minute kind of girl.  WELL... last Monday I had to get up extra early because Dave and Luke were heading to a drumline competition in Waco and I knew I had to get up before they left or risk sleeping through every alarm ever.

Woke up to this girl in my bed.  I can't even get mad about it because I know it won't be like this forever and she's so dang cute (even if she's a wiggle worm heater).

This cutie came in to say bye...

... and I got up and at 'em to assess the hair situation and after looking at the weather decided to spray in some dry shampoo and let it ride ;)

I climbed back into bed to sip some tea and work on some blog stuff...

... and a video I was working on for school.  Everyone was feeling extra sleepy!

I went upstairs around 6:30 to wake up Mason...

... and then started my actual getting ready process with a second cup of tea.

the kids got themselves dresses, loaded up their lunches that they had packed the night before, I loaded up my bag and then it was time to go!  I was bringing a meal for a friend so I loaded that up as well...

we said goodbye to Rosie who was OBVIOUSLY distraught that we were leaving...

... and snapped a quick pic before feeding Meatloaf and heading out the door.

Loaded up and ready to go at 7:02. AMEN

We pulled into school at 7:13...

and G helped me get my room ready for the day including pulling this balloon column from the skate party outside because CUTE!

I worked on making sure I had things ready for first period including updating the morning slides...

... and then I kicked off my day with 7th Grade PreAlgebra.  While they worked on their practice...

... I got my board ready for the week...

... and sorted through some papers.

I taught a Math 7 class after that and managed to wrap up my sub plans for the  next day (I had started this the Friday before) and grade a few tests while kids finished their assignment.

I taught an 8th grade PreAlgebra class, and worked on a communication I was sending out to parents and staff...

... and managed to polish off a whole water bottle before 10:30 am.

My fourth class was Honors Algebra 1...

... and I was able to sneak in some paper organization while they worked on their homework at the end of class.

I got an update from Waco...

... taught a second section of 7th grade math and then decided to eat at my desk that day since I was going to be out the next day AND had to leave mid-afternoon to get Griffin to an orthodontist appointment.

While eating I updated my Canvas classrooms for the day...

... and got my sub note ready.

I taught a third section of PreAlebra after lunch and then went over my to-do-list to make sure I was totally ready for my Tuesday sub and then classes on Wednesday.

I picked G up and we BOOKED IT to the orthodontist where I got a couple of sections of papers graded while she was having some brackets moved around.

There's a Starbucks next door to the ortho and I'm VERY easily convinced that we need to make a stop after appointments. hahaha

At this point it was about 2:45 and school is out at 3:15 so we ran home to walk the dogs...

... grab a quick snack...

...and then head back up to school.  Dave and Luke had just gotten back from Waco and so we hung out for a few minutes while Luke got some things he needed from his locker and we waited for Mason to get out of PC.

Griffin is "cheerleader for a day" this week and she had practice with the varsity cheerleaders so she worked with them while I knocked a few things out while waiting for her.  Practice went from 3:30 - 5:00...

... and then we headed home.  I'm not going to lie.... I was WIPED!!! The week before was a spirit week I was in charge of and then the weekend had a skate party followed by a Sunday full of kids stuff and then after a busy day I was just about DONE.

I got into my PJS, washed my face...

... and decided to take a minute and start a puzzle.  Luke was doing his XC workout since he missed practice and this is the picture I got when he came in ;)

Dinner was leftover spaghetti (I made a HUGE pot on Sunday!) and Caesar salad and after helping the kids with some homework and starting a load of laundry I got into bed to read and do my quiet time and ended up OUT COLD before 8:30 p.m.  I can't remember the last time I was asleep BEFORE any of my kids but I have no regrets!

And there you go!  I hope you enjoyed following along for my Monday!  HAPPY WEdnesday, friends!!!

  1. Love these kind of posts! We use Canvas in our school system too, and there's a love/hate relationship. Ha! All the kiddos look like they had a great day! :)
