What's Up Wednesday

Today I'm linking up with  Shay and  Sheaffer to talk a little bit about what's been going on around here! I missed out on this last week when I pressed pause on the blog to get caught up on some school things but wanted to share anyway ;)

It turned randomly cold this weekend and soup just felt right so I made this sausage corn chowder and it's ALWAYS a hit.

Luke and I are headed to Prude Ranch next week and I've been reminiscing about the last time I went on this trip RIGHT before Covid hit in 2020.  It seems like FOREVER ago and also so weird that I remember seeing things about a pandemic pop up while we were coming home but never in a million years thinking it would ever become what it did.

I am officially declaring my undying love to this vacuum.

We have this awesome "regular" vacuum that we use all the time and does a GREAT job on carpet but I really needed something that I could use to get really into those nooks and crannies and drag around to do my hardwoods and this thing is CRAZY powerful.  I love the attachments, how portable it is and how intense the suction is.  It's under $75 and the number of times I've already used it in like 4 days has made the price worth it.  SO SO SO GOOD!

ALL THE BIRTHDAYS.  Every year I feel like I kind of forget just how many celebrations we pack into like 3 weeks because we're just "in it" and are getting them done but by the time that last candle is blown out we are partied OUT!  We had our "family fiesta" on Monday night which was our last celebration and I'm ready to put my party pants away for another 11 months or so ;)

Y'all. This last "push" toward the finish line is ROUGH in teacher world.  ROUGH.  There are approximately 7000 kids out for 45 different activities mixed in with class meetings, special events, tests, standardized testing, class trips, signing the dang Dr. Seuss books ;), lunch things, grades due, awards ceremonies, etc.  It's a lot.  I added making my "you can make it" calendars to my to-do-list this week which means the end is in sight but mama is already tired just thinking about it!

***I'm joking about the Dr. Seuss books BUT if you want your childs teacher to write something in it may I suggest giving it to them NOW.  When we get 13 of them during the last 3 days of school it makes writing something thoughtful hard when we don't have two thoughts to rub together ;) ***

ALLL the things ;)  Pretty much though just maintaining my sanity until the end of the year. hahahaha

I'm hosting the 7th and 8th grade semi-formal on Friday and I'm so excited to see all the kiddos dressed up.  When they wear uniforms daily it's extra fun to see their personalities come out through what they choose to wear.  Crazy to think that this will be Luke's second semi-formal and next year Mason will be there!

Dave and I have reached the point in the year where the only thing I have the mental capacity to watch at the end of the day is The Office or Parks and Rec.  For real.  hahaha

Good thing it just gets funnier the more times you watch it!

I just started the Unraveled podcast and am really liking it!

This dress.  On repeat.  The end.

Semi-formal, volleyball, meeting and getting ready to head out of town on the 8th grade trip.

SLOTH MODE!!!!  I am SO READY for slow days with nothing on the agenda.  NOTHING!

I ordered this book and we've all had the best time flipping through it this week.  It's black and white photos that have had color added to them with little blurbs about the photo, history around the photo, date, place, etc.

HIGHLY recommend if your kids (or you!) love flipping through books like this!

HAPPY Wednesday, friends!

  1. I love that book recommendation "History as they saw it". My Dad's birthday is coming up, and he's a history buff. This would be a great gift to add to something else. Happy Wednesday!!

  4. Thank you for the book recommendation! My Dad is hard to buy for but loves history, so I just added it to my cart and will give it to him for his birthday next month.

  5. Have you tried Abbott Elementaru yet? I am a teacher and I find if hilarious. It is "office style".
