Weekend Top 10 - Easter Edition

It's been FOREVER since I've done a weekend recap mainly because the weekends have been no different than the weekdays because #quarantinelife but this weekend I'm bringing it back because we had a BLAST the past few days - good for our souls!

First up, Griffin got a haircut!

She's had her fair share of trims over the years but for the past few months has been asking for a "bob" :)  The "bob bug" has been making it's way through first grade and Griffin has been BEGGING.  I've been hesitant because 1) I wanted to make sure she was sure and 2) long hair is easy and 3) I LOVE her top knot (selfish, I know).

I ordered a pair of good scissors on Amazon and when they arrived on Saturday morning she told me (again!) that she REALLY wanted to and wanted to donate her hair like I've done a few times and how could I say no to that.

I MEAN!  Look how sweet!!!

We cut, styled and did the whole "salon" thing since we couldn't go and her huge smile the entire time was THE BEST!

Friday night pizza night was EXTRA great this week because of perfect weather, our favorite pizza and a bike ride after.

We went fishing on Thursday night and all three kids caught a fish.  My boys were NOT interested in a picture but Griffin humored me...

... and after getting a hook out of this turtle's foot she talked to it for a LONG time to make sure it was okay and ready to go back into the water.  Hopefully something we never have to do again because after pretty much getting into the water to get the turtle and then having to get it's foot out of it's shell I was wiped :)

Easter morning was so sweet and if you ever want a good reaction to a gift just invite Mason to your party :)

We had a slow start, enjoyed looking through their baskets (I actually forgot to pull down their baskets from the attic so I improvised with these from my living room shelves - hahaha) ...

...  and had breakfast while watching our church service before Dave headed in to work.

The rest of the day was slow and sweet and

We eventually got out of our pajamas...

... did a little non-traditional egg painting...

... and had a really sweet dinner with just our family of five.

Mason helped me set the table and he did such a great job!

After dinner we grabbed our baskets (or Bogg bag because your basket broke) and did our egg hunt in the backyard...

Dave and I assign each of the kids certain colors and hide them harder for the boys than G ;)

We hide 3 "golden eggs" and they can each get one... at the end of the hunt we let them trade their golden eggs or keep the one they found and then they open them at the same time and two have $5 and one has $10.   They talk about it all year long and I think this is a tradition that will continue well into their teens :)

The temperatures seriously dropped about 25 degrees between dinner and the egg hunt so we put on sweatshirts and headed out on a bike ride before ending the night with some games.

Y'all.  It was a GOOD GOOD day.  Different than normal but so sweet and one of my favorites for sure.

Happy Monday, friends!

    1. Oh, girl! It's not really a recipe - but here's the basic idea :)
      1) Bake the potatoes at 400 degrees for about an hour
      2) Slice the potatoes in half and scoop out the insides into the bowl of your mixer (it's easier to scoop them out when they're hot)
      3) Use your stand mixer to whip the potatoes with however much butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon, chives, salt, pepper, garlic salt, etc. (or you can just mash them all together with a potato masher). Refill the potato skins with the mashed potato mixture and top with cheese
      4) Pop them back in a 350 degree oven until they're warmed through (you can also cover them and refrigerate them until you're ready to bake)

    1. Thank you! And yes... I cut everyone's hair this weekend (except for mine). :) The cookies were from Gimme All The Sprinkles (my friend Brooke's SIL and the cookies were SO CUTE but the best part was that they taste AMAZING!)

  9. Griffin's new haircut is so cute! Do you mind sharing which scissors you ordered from Amazon that you used to cut her hair? I've been looking for a pair, but wasn't sure what exactly I needed.

  11. Tim let me cut his hair and I was SO NERVOUS but it turned out okay (I think! Haha!) GG's looks absolutely adorable!

Zero judgement in this Q, just total curiosity - why does Dave still have to go to work if they (presumably) aren't putting on any events at the club?? Either way, glad you are all healthy and safe!! :)

    1. Even though there aren't events their restaurant is still open for to-go food and food for the golf course and he manages both of those areas in addition to the food service side of private events.

  12. Andrea - where are GG's jammies from in the adorable pic where Jack Bauer is kissing her nose? Thanks for keeping up with the normal content of the blog, definitely look forward to checking in with your page during breaks from work. Thank you!

  13. I love G's Katherine Patterson tshirt & science themed skirt. Can you link them & do they come in adult sizes? I'm an elementary teacher & my students would go nuts (in a good way) if I wore this on a Google Meet.
