To the moon and back lunch

Last month I stumbled across these "To The Moon and Back" plates and an idea was born ;)  I decided to do a fun themed lunch revolving around the moon/space and y'all... it was SO MUCH FUN!!!

I had almost everything on hand and it came out way cuter in person than in my head ;)  The plates I picked up on the Sugarboo website (I'll add these to our stack of everyday melamine plates) and I grabbed  the napkins on Amazon.  I used wrapping paper that I had already for the table runner and the chargers I bought several years ago at Target.

The gold heart straws were a dollar spot find a few weeks ago...

Back in December I received  a charcuterie board from Barn Born Furniture and OH MY WORD is it a show stopper.  It's absolutely stunning and I had so much fun filling it up and making a snack/lunch board for out family.  It's totally a work of art and something that our family will treasure for years to come!

I cut peanut butter and jelly sandwiches using  this cutter and was able to get two moons out of each sandwich.  I set out fruit, rolled ham, white cheddar popcorn, hummus, crackers and cheese stars (I cut them out using  this set of cutters) and some fun dessert treats from Trader Joe's.  The heart dish I found  HERE.

The astronaut/space picks were a Homegoods find...

These half moon cookies were such a fun find when I stopped in on Friday afternoon to grab the heart cookies.  Tasty and fit the theme perfectly.

The other side of the board had more pita crackers, sugar snap peas, spinach dip tomatoes, cucumbers and pistachios.  The moon was one that Luke had in his room... it lights up and goes through the moon phases but I was using it just for aesthetic purposes ;)

I started cutting cucumber stars but I like the edges and felt like I'd be missing out without them.

A last-minute addition to our lunch was a balloon garland that I put together using a needle and fishing line. I had all of the balloons on hand from previous projects except for  the large moon which I picked up on Amazon the day before.

When I decided to make it I thought I would put it on the wall behind the table but this was simpler and ended up being really fun :)  The entire thing from start to finish took under 30 minutes and was really fun to make.

You can find the star confetti balloons  HERE.

As always, my favorite part was seeing how excited the kids were when they came downstairs... this is their favorite kind of meal (snack board for the win!) and they were pretty pumped about the decorations ;)

I hope that y'all got as much of a kick out of this fun lunch as I did putting it together!

  6. Honestly, the memories you are making with your children are some that they will look back on fondly for many years. I love that you go above and beyond, because as a mother of 4, ages 16-23,I can tell you that the time goes by quickly. These are the special moments to savor.

  9. This is out of this world adorable...:) I've never been very creative but one time for Valentine's Day I did date cards like the Bachelor and had my husband and two kids each read one and the clues led them to game tickets for our local NBA team. (Example: Dad, let's find love on the court...) We all loved it!
