Happy Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!  I had planned on sharing some festive decor and/or a fun "love list" but to be totally honest - this week is PACKED and I just didn't get my act together enough for either of those things.  Instead I find myself grading quizzes, helping assemble class valentines and trying to get our schedules halfway organized.

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of hosting Girl's night and thought I'd share a few quick simple things I did in case you were looking for some easy inspiration for celebrating today.

I grabbed some tulips and eucalyptus at Trader Joe's, mixed the colors a bit and then just used a few vases and candles that I had on hand.  Easy and done! :)

I made  this recipe for Tuscan chicken pasta and doubled the recipe (there were 9 of us).  I prepped all the chicken, bacon, pasta and tomatoes when I got home from work and then waited until about 10 mins before everyone was supposed to arrive to get the sauce going.

(This is a picture from when I originally posted the recipe - the pot was a LOT more full last night!)

I made  these cupcakes (simple, easy and SO GOOD!), sliced up a ciabatta baguette (Trader Joe's) and was done!

The BEST part of girlfriends is that I literally could have put out bowls, cereal and milk and we still would have had a blast :)

And here are a few "love" theme posts for you to check out :)

you can read about Dave and my "love story"  HERE

And read about how he "won my heart" (and keeps winning it!)  HERE

Our plans today are pretty low key - I'm volunteering in Luke's class party, we'll probably end up doing Sonic or Chick-Fil-A after baseball practice and I do have a special dessert and movie night planned for when we get home :)

I'd love to know how y'all are celebrating the day!

  5. We’re celebrating with dessert tonight also! (I’m making your delicious cupcakes) With 5 boys and busy schedules it’s what works in this season...❤️

  10. That's fun that you had a girl's night! Not sure if you've seen Parks & Rec, but it was Galentine's Day! Was that a coincidence or was it a Galetine's Party? :)

  12. I need to get together with my girlfriends more often! And my daughter has dance class but my husband is taking us out for sushi and tomorrow him and I are going to dinner and to see the movie Black Panther. Superhero movies are our jam so I'm super excited to get to see it as soon as it comes out and celebrate Valentine's Day!

  13. I iced my cupcakes with your Ziploc bag trick last night and my kids thought they were professional- score! (Maybe that just tells you how bad my method used to be? ha!) We have a low-key night planned and that's just how I like it!

  14. That recipe looks delish! I've tried several of your recipes, and they are always SO yummy. I've even made your Tortellini soup two weeks in a row and have eaten on it all week(s). It's amazing, and my Mom dubbed it the best soup she has ever eaten!
Question: how do you cook the pasta but keep it from sticking and getting gross?

I've said this before, but I absolutely LOVE your random array of plates. It's so fun and I love you get a lot of random cute ones to add to your collection.

  16. We always do a movie and dinner out. No where fancy because the restaurants always make you do price fix menus now and we hate that with a passion. Tonight we finish the Fifty Shades Trilogy! and then a fun "brinner" at a local diner because Hello its also Ash Wednesday and we are Catholic. And we always buy each other all the mushy cards. I have saved each one from my hubby and he from me. I love that <3
