After Christmas I LOVE having everything clean and neat and so for Valentine's Day I try to add a few little touches here and there to add some festive elements. In the living room I just added a couple little glass jars of pink mini roses with red glitter hearts.
The glitter hearts were a total afterthought. I literally just cut out hearts freehand from a piece of red glitter paper I had and then taped them to toothpicks and skewers I had. Easy and added some sparkly fun :)
Headed into the family room I added an xoxo pillow (from Anthropologie - but a few seasons ago) to the bench and can you spy the sweet little view at the table? :)
I didn't have a Valentine's Day banner (shocking, I know!) and when I saw these paper plates at Home Goods I knew that they would be perfect. $3/package (and I have a ton left over to use as actual plates), a hole punch and some Christmas twine and I was done!
This is a horrible pic... but the twine I picked up after Christmas at Target and this gives you an idea of what the plates looked like unstrung. They weren't super deep so I didn't feel like they really looked too much like plates when they were hanging (I think that that may only make sense in my head - sorry!)
I didn't love the plates up their solo so I started looking for something simple to add to it. I thought that a red pom pom garland would look cute, but those things aren't cheap. I found this one for what I felt like was a reasonable price (plus it was Amazon Prime and I ended up getting it the same day), but I knew when I bought it that it wasn't going to be long enough to string all the way across my mantle...
So I cut off the ends and restrung it on white embroidery floss and voila! Long enough!
And I think it looks cuter with the spaces in between - bonus!
In the kitchen there are a few more little touches... latte bowls, more flowers, best candle ever, pink dishtowel.
Last year for my birthday Dave let each of the kids pick out something for me at one of my favorite little boutiques downtown. Luke picked out this heart ornament and I stuck it on a pick and put it in my little mug succulent. (adorable narwal towel HERE)
This picture is super dark since I was trying to take it into the light, but focus on the sweet little hearts and the cute baby fern, k? ;)
Again, just glitter paper taped to toothpicks :)
Keeping it simple on the kitchen table...
Sign is by the ALWAYS incredible Vine and Branches
In the awkward little niche area I added a few little hearts and called it a day :)
And same on the console table. Glitter hearts for the win!
Can y'all see my tiny dancer back there??? :)
Another lovely from Vine and Branches!
And since it's kind of hard to see through the cross on the glass...
The teeny succulents are from Trader Joes and at $3/each (with the pot!) I just can't resist. Y'all know my feelings about a weathered terra cotta pot. I love them so! And yes... that succulent there in the back is just kind of hanging out. I need to figure that out at some point :)
The best picture from the day :)
Valentine's Day is one week away! Definitely not too late to add some festive little hearts around your house :)
Happy Tuesday, Friends!
Your house looks so cozy and all the heart decor is too cute!

ReplyDeleteThe Valentine's touches are adorable!!! Love it all!
ReplyDeleteI too am obsessed with the flower/plant area at Trader Joe's. Last time I bought lavender in a cute little twine pot!
ReplyDeleteI love the minimal decor, it all looks so nice! And great idea to make a banner as well as re-string the felt balls!
ReplyDeleteIt's all adorable! Kudos on re-stringing the pom strand, I would have run out the back door screaming just watching you do it, much less trying to do it. So cute!
ReplyDeleteCute! I love those pom strands too but you're right, they're not cheap! I like how you made yours go further by restringing it!
ReplyDeleteI love your banner! Everything looks great! I miss your apothecary jars.
ReplyDeleteI need a trip to Trader Joe's ASAP.
ReplyDeleteYour sweet little touches are the best. ❤️
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are gorgeous! I much prefer the simple touches over all out decoration explosions, your house is perfectly decorated in my opinion. I hope you have a wonderful week and splendid Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteThose little glitter hearts on toothpicks pack such a punch and they're so easy to make! I love it all, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! Just the right touches of color and sparkle. :)
ReplyDeleteI know this post was about Valentine's decor, but you have me convinced that I need more succulents in my life. I don't have any! I don't have a Trader Joes near me, so do you have any other suggestions on where to find them?
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! Love it all!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE your blog! The scripture you have listed has been made into a hymn, and is in the LDS hymn book. (Mormon, my religion) Click on the link, and enjoy this song, "Love One Another."

ReplyDeleteThis link is for the sheet music and words to "Love One Another." It's fun to speed up or
slow down the tempo!
You are so good at making your "house a home." I think the poms look better spaced out and restrung!
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea!! You have such creative ideas!!! Love all your potted plants--I love potted plants but they kind of stress me out--do you water them everyday? Do you put them in the sink when you water them and then put them back in their spots when they're dry? Do you have a little "plate thing" under each pot? Where do you like to buy the ferns and pots? I really want to add more of this green to my life! 😊
