Weekend Recap - Setting the tone edition

Happy New Year, Friends!  I can't believe that Christmas break is (almost) over!  Today is my last day off and we have no plans except soak in the last moments of doing nothing :)

Friday morning started off slow... pop beads, dominos and hot tea for the win!

What's better than one accessory???  Seven. ;)

I took the kids to Obstacle Warrior Kids to meet up with some friends and they ran, jumped, scaled and climbed for a full two hours.

That's a lot of sweaty boys.

You can imagine that after a couple of hours of being a ninja there were great naps that afternoon :)

Saturday morning we hung out and spent the GORGEOUS afternoon playing outside...

... building towers...

... and party prepping for NYE! (Which I'll share later this week!)

Sunday morning we hit the road to start 2017 off right - at the lake!!!

My parents were already there and we had THE BEST time exploring the lake with all the leaves down (last time we were there you could barely see the other houses because of all the trees!)

The walk around the lake is a little over 2 miles and we put on our boots and set off!

GG was so excited to take Scooter :)

Nerf gun practice!

Mason was so excited about the "pinecone family" he collected.

And when he found a stick that looked like a lightsaber and didn't have enough hands to hold everything we improvised :)

Roasting hot dogs for lunch!

My parents dog - Scooter ;)

Griffin and Haha in the necklaces she made ;)

 Looking for minnows :)

We're thinking that chest waders are going to be a must :)  But in the meantime the rolled pants will have to suffice! hahaha

GG took a spill and this happened :)

#lakeproblems

Meeting the ducks...

The lady who my parents bought the house from left pretty much everything there including LOTS of little animal figurines.  My mom kept a few of them out on the porch knowing that my kids would love playing with them and she was totally right :)

My dad bought an old boat and Dave and Luke helped bring it around back.  We're excited about it's maiden voyage and lots of memories to be made in it!

We left in time to get home for dinner and this took all of 5 minutes to happen...

We are so looking forward to 2017 and I think we set the tone well.

Happy Monday, Friends!!!

    1. I have a Mac which helps... all the pics that I take on my phone appear on my photo stream on my computer (I used to have to email them to myself). And the pics from my camera go to that stream as well when I put my SD card into the computer.

  7. dumb question but when your kids take late naps, how does bedtime work? i'm always half relieved because they NEED it but then also dreading that night because they'll usually be wired until 11pm! (mine are 6 1/2 and 2 1/2.) i usually just let them have extra quiet play time in their room but wondering if there's another trick. ;) love this post and SO jealous of the lake house! so dreamy!

    1. Not dumb!!! Yesterday they slept from about 3:30 - 5:00 and were in bed again for the night by 9:00. (Normally bedtime is around 7:30). They can look at books in their beds, but have to stay put when they go to bed. Hope that helps!!! (Most of the time if they're taking a late nap it's because they're wiped out from something we did and just need some extra sleep.... so they usually don't have a hard time going back to bed an hour or so later than normal).
