2016 In Review

2016 was a great one for our family.  Lots of fun and lots of "normal".  I think the big thing this happened for us this year was the transition from being a family with "babies" to a family with "big kids".  We left behind diapers, pacis, strollers and the house that we had three babies in.  It was a transitional year but a great one.

January was marked by lots of snuggles...

... bitty ball...

... Sunday morning struggles ;)...

... and the inaugural jump on our new trampoline.

... fed giraffes...

... and cheered on Our Anna Grace :)

Mason and I had a day date...

... Griffin wore the cutest little dress ever...

... and I celebrated turning 32 with my favorite people...

... and a few of my favorite things.

... and we had a Marshmallow Mania afternoon.

In March we celebrated Easter with the worst Sunday morning picture ever...

... time with family...

.... hunting eggs...

... and adding a few festive touches around the house.

We shopped for flowers in our leotard...

... had a "lucky to know you because" dinner...

...and had a wonderful Spring break together.

In April Luke turned 8 and celebrated with a sleepover...

... we had the best time at Kite Day...

... and we cruised the golf course as much as possible.

Mason and Griffin turned 5 and 3 and we celebrated with a "flamingoflage" party!

Narci took the kids pictures in the bluebonnets...

.. I painted hydrangeas with friends...

... and Griffin blew dandelions on the golf course.

We had a "family fiesta" for all three kids' birthdays...

... wrapped up the soccer season...

...watched Anna Grace go to Prom....

... and hosted a fun event benefitting Manda and Miley.

April was also the month where we bought a new house and sold our old one within a matter of about 2 weeks. (EEEEK!!!)

May I planned and chaperoned the Middle School semi-formal...

... we rung in Manda's birthday with a party to end all parties (limos, hospital visits and an elevator ride that looked like this)...

... and we packed AND moved the last week of school (seriously).

We spent a lot of time in the paint store...

... Luke went to his first sleepover...

... took our first family picture in the new house...

... and had ALL the end of the year festivities (including Mason's PreK graduation and Griffin's dance recital... which she actually missed because of the move).

In June the littles took swimming lessons...

... we celebrated Father's Day...

... and the kitchen FINALLY was finished!

Luke went to Sky Ranch Launch camp...

... we celebrated some special birthdays...

... and did A LOT of art :)

... savored the laid back pace of summer...

... and enjoyed the pool with friends :)

We hit up Trade Days...

... I chopped off a ton of hair and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths...

... and GG grew up overnight :)

We visited with one of my oldest and dearest friends and her family...

... celebrated July fourth with friends, fireworks and fancy bathing suits...

... and attended a dive-in-movie :)

In August Dave threw out the first pitch at a Rough Riders game...

... Griffin REALLY wanted a pink birthday cake at Kroger...

... and we celebrated Dave's birthday with a family fun day and the BEST Almond Joy cookies.

I decorated for to get us in the "back to school spirit"...

... the kids had a lemonade stand that raised over $200 for Mission Regan...

... and Manda and I made the most of the last week of summer by taking all our kids to the Perot Museum.

We got ready for school with a Back to School "Brinner"...

... took the BEST back to school pics...

... and took one last cruise of the summer.

In September we celebrated Beau's first birthday...

... I attended our annual scarf exchange...

... and hosted a wedding shower for my new sister-in-law.

We spent lots of time playing outside...

... and got back some extra handsome school pictures.

We participated in the groundbreaking for the new high school at MCA...

... welcomed home the newest member of our little "framily"...

In October we made our inaugural visit to my parents new lake house...

... decorated the house for Halloween....

.... and had a surprise after school ice cream party.

We fed kangaroos...

.... broke out the legwarmers...

... and the boys jogged their little hineys off at the jog-a-thon.

We celebrated Homecoming...

... celebrated Stephen and Cynthia...

... and celebrated the weather FINALLY cooling off a bit.

We wore our fair share of costumes at dance...

... for trick-or-treating...

... and at our BFG Annual Harvest Party.

In November we had our family photos done...

... cheered on our MCA mustangs in the playoffs...

... and met Miss America!

Mason finished his soccer season...

... we feasted A LOT...

... and had "the best playdate of all time" ;)

We visited Home for the Holidays...

... 12 Days of Christmas at the Arboretum...

... and celebrated Thanksgiving!

December came and we decked our halls...

... welcomed 3 new members to the family :) ...

... and rode in/watched the Christmas parade.

We had pictures done with Santa...

... continued our tradition of eating cookies as big as our faces...

... and had the sweetest Christmas chapel to date.

We welcomed back Buddy The Elf with a North Pole Breakfast...

... saw Charlie Brown Christmas for Mason's first field trip...

... and watched our little snowflake at her recital.

And of course we partied hard for Christmas and NYE ;)

SUCH a fun year!!!  What was the highlight of your 2016?

Happy Wednesday, Friends!!!

  18. I absolutely love your blog and your adorable family! This year was super transitional for us too. Although we are very much so in the baby stage! Lots of diapers and tantrums and naptime struggles, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Cheers to an amazing 2017!
