Weekend Recap: Magnolia Edition

Friday morning Dave sent me this picture of Griffin having breakfast with her baby.  Apparently all the cool girls eat asparagus for breakfast.  ;)

And then he sent me this one of her at Miss Lisa's house.  Bless.

Friday afternoon I got to surprise a sweet friend with a couple favorite things to warm her soul.  Nothing better than ringing surprise sunshine to someone, right? :)

We soaked up the last little bit of sunshine outside on the trampoline and then it was time for Pizza Friday.

GG likes to lay on the trampoline and stare up at the trees.  How sweet is that?!?!

Saturday morning a group of girls from our Sunday School class met up bright and early to head to Magnolia.  It's about a 2 hour drive and we had the best time chatting and giggling on the way down there.

We got there around 11:00 and had to wait in line to get into the store, but thankfully the line moved quickly and we were in and out of the cold in about 20 minutes.

Getting our shop on!!!

It was JAM PACKED with people, which made it difficult to really see everything, but we made the most of it and had no trouble finding stuff to buy.

It was their scratch and dent weekend, which probably contributed to the craziness, but I've heard it's busy all the time regardless.

After Joanna's mom checked us out (for real! She packaged up my butter dish and we chatted! #fangirl) we headed out to Cafe Homestead for lunch.  The wait was an hour and a half (OMG!), but we made the most of the wait and checked out their pottery, quilting, blacksmithing and gardening.

We felt like we were on a field trip - all that was missing were our matching t-shirts and sack lunches :)

After a lunch that was totally worth the wait we headed over to Harp Design Co. and I was TICKLED to see my friend Vine and Branches work for sale.  #iknowher

Told you I'm a fan :) hahaha

Manda couldn't make it with us this time, but we KNOW she'll be there for our next trip down.
#mandastrong

One last stop after Harp Design... one of the fixer upper houses!  We only felt mildly stalkerish and no one got out of the car.

I didn't document my outfit before we left (bad blogger), but this outfit was super comfy and that says a lot considering that I drove for 5 hours and shopped/ate the other 5. hahaha

I got home in time for Griffin to confiscate my packages and pretend she was shopping before bedtime.

And in case you were curious... I picked up a magnolia wreath which I am already IN LOVE with!
It was a splurge, but my plan is to leave it up year round (well... except for back to school, halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas. hahaha) and it's a sweet memento from the girls day as well.

I also grabbed this cute chalkboard (it turns and is double sided - so fun!)...

... and this glass butter dish.

Sunday morning I woke up with a CRAZY migraine and so I went back to bed until about 10:00.  Then I was up for about an hour and a half before the nausea set in (I get this when I have migraines) and so it was back to bed for me until about 3:30.  While I was out of commission Dave hung out with the littles and they read a lot of books, played a lot of games and somehow managed to stay quiet enough as to not wake up their pitiful mama.

I finally started to feel human again right before these two headed to AWANAs and they always know how to make me smile regardless of whether or not my head feels like it's going to explode. hahaha

It was drive-in-movie night at AWANAS and I totally missed out on helping them decorate their box cars in the afternoon, but Dave did a fantastic job and the boys were so proud of their cars (even though there were no stickers or glitter glue or paint - hahaha)

We finished off the weekend with some slam dunks and burgers for dinner.  Perfection.

In other exciting weekend news Our Anna Grace went to Winter Formal and looked STUNNING!!!  Her whole look was perfection and I'll share a few pics later this week.  I have two words for y'all... Kate. Spade.

ANNNNNDDDDDDDD......... Uncle Stephen and Aunt Cynthia are engaged!!!
Stephen is Dave's youngest brother and Cynthia is THE BEST!  We're so excited!
Except for Mason, who is currently upset because Cynthia is on his list of girls he wants to marry (along with McKinley, Anna Grace and me).

Today we have plans to visit the zoo and soak up some family time.  It's supposed to be chilly, but we're ready to bundle :)  I hope y'all have a fabulous day (hopefully off from work!) and that your week gets off to a great start.

Don't forget that tomorrow is Show and Tell Tuesday and we're giong to be sharing our "Momfessionals Moments".  Those #momlife moments that are too funny not to share.

Happy Monday, Friends!

    1. Hey! THere are actually a few tiny hooks where the wood under the cabinets meet the backsplash... they're painted the same color as my cabinets so they're hard to see. I actually have it hanging from two metal paper clips on the hook. hahaha

  17. Love your pics of Magnolia! I've lived in Waco for almost 15 years, and love that our sweet town is getting some love.

I HAVE to know where Griffin's tee came from--the "head full of curls". I too have a beautiful curly-headed little girl, and I would LOVE to have one for her. Thanks!

  18. Oooh, I am so glad you got that wreath. I think I need one for my pantry door! Thanks for sharing your experience at Magnolia. I CAN'T (but kinda can) believe it was that crowded! Glad you're feeling better, have a fun day :)

  19. Okay...isn't Magnolia the NEATEST place? My sister and I met up with a group of girls in Dallas to see Luke Bryan this past summer and when they all flew home we made the drive in the worst rain and flooding I had ever seen to get to Magnolia. ha. It was the weekend before the big grand opening ordeal so it wasn't too busy and I wanted to buy all the things. I love the wreath you got! I bought a few things that I still love and I can't wait to add to my collection. The almost 7 hour drive home afterwards was totally worth it! ha.

  22. My best friend use to work for them (started the show with them). She moved to Utah to start a church with her hubby, but Joanna sells the leather earrings she creates (September+May). They should be at the store. They look like your style actually. Her IG is @mrsjrbaker if you want to see the earrings. She's also Joanna's look alike :)

  23. Ok, I need suggestions on skinny jeans that are NOT distressed. That's the only kind I can wear to work (on Fridays). Sad face.
Also, your friend in the green jacket... adorable! Where is it from?

  24. Where is GG's shirt from? Love it! My 8 year old little girl has a head full of curly hair....well she gets it from her momma;-)

  27. Next time y'all go, head south a block down the street to The Findery!! It's a neat little shop with boutique clothing, kitchen items, the Waco tees that Jo wears, knick knacks, etc. So much goodness there!!

Also, right next door is The Backyard, and they have yummy food!
