Let's Talk - Red, White and Blue

Today Erika and I are hosting another edition of our "Let's Talk" series and I'm so pumped because it's all about red, white and blue!

Y'all.  I LOVE me some red, white and blue.  I love how summery and patriotic and festive it is.  I spruced up our entryway with a few little flags stuck in the flower pots and the red, white and blue wreath I made two years ago.

You can find the tutorial for the wreath HERE.

The flags were $0.99 at Home Depot and they're my favorite way to easily add some red, white and blue.

I added a few out back as well...

I told myself I wasn't going to put out any patriotic decorations this year since I'm still trying to figure out where everything is going on a regular basis, but when I went to get the wreath out of the attic I couldn't resist :)  The handprint canvas we made a few years ago and it's one of my favorite craft memories with Mason :)  It's currently on the shelf in the dining room and I smile every time I walk past.

See!!!  He looks like grumpy cat :)

If you want to make one yourself, you can find the instructions HERE.

The big flag I made broke in the move and I haven't had a chance to fix it yet.  It looked super cute on our old mantle, though :)  You can read about how I made it HERE.

When I visited Magnolia Market earlier in the year I picked up this red chalkboard and I KNEW it would be perfect all summer long.  (It's sold out on the Magnolia site, but you can shop it HERE)

A group of teeny flags in a Mason jar and this candle finished it off.

I was talking with Shay yesterday and I told her that I think the console table in our family room is going to be the new kitchen window. (If you're brand new around here I had a TOTAL love affair with my kitchen window in our old house).  I foresee a lot of decorating fun in this spot!

PS - I'll share family room and kitchen pics soon!  I want to get hardware for our cabinets and hang a couple more things before the official "reveal" :)   Consider the next pics a sneak peek!

The metal firecrackers are from Hobby Lobby and then there's more little flags.  Easy!

These candles smell amazing regardless what kind of jar they're in... but I'm partial to the mercury glass.

This is an awful picture of them, but on that back counter you can see these bowls in red, white and blue.  We use these bowls for pretty much everything and love having a festive stack of them on hand.

And one more canvas art from last year :)  We made it with straws! SO EASY!!!

Aside from decor, I love dressing everyone in red white and blue all summer.  These boys shirts would be great for the fourth... and I tend to think that red, white and blue is appropriate year round :)

And y'all should know I love a good patriotic girls ensemble :)  Click on the pictures below for more info and to shop!

For me - red, white and blue has to by easy and breezy because when we're out and celebrating it's typically 7000 degrees outside.

Here are a couple of my favorites....

So fun, right??? And if you need one more little bit of red, white and blue - be sure to check out this cute little dessert I made for a patriotic playdate a couple of years ago.

I feel like I've overloaded y'all with red, white and blue :) Now I can't wait to read through your patriotic favorites!  Link up below to share.

Happy Monday, Friends!

  4. I always loved your kitchen window area in your old home. It inspired me to find an area in my own kitchen to decorate seasonally. Since I don't have that gorgeous window I ended up using the counter/bar area near my sink. I enjoy it! Looking forward to seeing what you do with that console table!

  7. We attempted the flag canvas last year and it didn't work too well because the tempera paint I bought was too sheer. What paint do you recommend?

    1. Oh no! Maybe just a couple of coats? Did you shake your paint? Acrylics are always great - but just be careful since they're not washable.

  8. Love it! So excited for more house reveals! We made the straw fireworks craft last year, but all I had was printer paper. It turned out SO CUTE that I'm going to get some canvases to make them again this year. And I'm kind of sad about your kitchen window in your old house. That was the best! But it's obvious your new house is AMAZING!

    1. The window and the exposed brick are really the only two things I miss ;) That window will FOREVER hold a special place in my heart!

  9. That red chalk board is so adorable! I still haven't made it up to Waco. I seriously snagged the console table when you posted about it being 30% off and it has seriously added so much to my house! We need new living room furniture something awful but the table dressed things up a bit for the time being.

  14. Love the red, white, and blue! I had a large, heavy planter out front with flowers and an American flag in it. Unfortunately, someone dumped it over late at night on our front yard. I'm so disappointed. People can be so mean! Maybe I'll try my hand at the cool wreath you have. I'm in need of a new door wreath.
