Weekend Recap - PieFace Edition

Happy Monday, friends! This weekend was fast and furious, and I'm kind of wishing we had another day (or two) off :)

Friday morning was nuts.  It was Luke's birthday and so our normal morning routine was off along with having to bring his birthday cupcakes, special show and tell items, etc., etc., etc.  My mom stopped by the house on her way to work and was having a super sweet birthday moment with Luke - reminiscing about him as a baby and talking about how teeny and cute he was and when she paused Luke interjected, "Well, that's awkward!" :)  We laughed so hard!

It was chilly Friday morning and GG was looking super cute :)

At the end of the day I was able to go down to Luke's room and watch his birthday celebration with his class.  His teacher does a super cool Show and Tell (he had to bring items that corresponded with the letters in LIGHT).  He way beyond excited to get to bring in some of his favorite things.

After his show and tell, Luke's teacher prayed for him, which was my favorite part.

And then the most first grade birthday song of all time happened ;)

After the prayer and song it was cupcake time.  While they ate, they all took turns telling something that they liked about Luke.  How cool is that?!?!?!

After birthday time I ran a bunch of errands and then headed to the country club to get things ready for the 7th/8th grade semi-formal that night.  Grilled cheese on the road before picking up GG was my first break of the day. hahaha

I picked up Griffin and the boys and we met Dave at home for presents.  In the hustle and bustle of the week I didn't wrap Luke's presents.  He cared a lot.  #except not

So excited about his new Bionicle and the complete Harry Potter series!  He and I plan on reading these together and we can't wait!

Ready to party it up with my middle schoolers.  And by party I mean stop them from sucking helium immediately upon arrival and make sure that they "keep room for Jesus" (hahaha) while dancing. ;)

The key to any middle school vent?  Copious amounts of sugar.

I can't imagine teaching middle school with anyone else!  You definitely have to be able to laugh at yourself in our profession and we do that well :)

Dave was in and out of our event, but he jumped right in the photobooth with me ;)

Home after midnight meant that Saturday morning dance class came early!  Thank goodness for comfy hoodies, messy hair and baseball caps!

My dad normally golfs on Saturdays, but since he's out of commission for a few weeks he came with me and Griffin.  They're working on their recital piece and despite their regular teacher being at a competition with the older girls she was rocking it :)

We spent the rest of the afternoon playing, including my favorite game - sick patient.  Where you lay in bed and let the kids take care of you.  Yes, ma'am.

We played outside for a while, but the pollen is out of control!

After naptime, Griffin and Baby painted ;)

And after baths all around we called it an early night.

Sunday morning was church and Sunday school followed by a "quick trip" through the garden store with 2/3 of my littles.  Can you spy Mason?

Sunday afternoon we broke out the Pie Face game and the boys had THE BEST time!

AWANAs for the boys, trampoline for me and Griffin...

... and then a golf course cruise with Gibi and Haha.

Tomorrow is Show and Tell Tuesday and we're going to be talking about our Fantasy Talk shows :)  What kind of show would you host and who would you have on?  I can't wait to hear about all of your shows!!!

Happy Monday, girls!!!

  1. Your weekend started off with a bang with your middle school dance! I teach seventh grade English so I know how much fun you had Friday night haha!! And I love that Luke got the whole Harry Potter series! I am excited about the 8th book coming out in July!

  2. Oh Andrea, Luke's classroom just looks so cozy and happy. I love all of the traditions his teacher has for birthdays. So special!

  3. Those middle school dance pictures...take me back. Except ours were all in a gym with no decorations. Hahaha! And Luke looks so tall in his birthday pictures! How are they growing up right before our eyes? Make. It. Stop. :)

  4. I'm always amazed at how much fun and how many memories you are always able to cram into one weekend!!! So fun!

  5. Love the dance video. The littles are my fave at our recital. They are so cute and often unpredictable.

  6. Well, that was such a fun weekend!! I love how all of the kids get to say what they like about Luke!! How sweet is that??

  7. Wow, I wish I can go back to the time when I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for the first time...I hope Luke enjoys it!!!! PS. Thanks for all the snapchats!

  8. I teach first grade and that's pretty much the song I'm used to, lol love it! Love to see the class pray over him and give him a compliment. I'm also dying over the non wrapped gift. I would be freaking out, but that's life.. and guess what? The kids don't care either way! Ha, thanks for keeping it real!

  9. I love that you're starting to read Harry Potter, I really hope that my daughter still enjoys reading when she's older!!

  10. I love, love, love Luke's teacher praying over him!!

  11. I think I would have loved to teach middle school. I taught seniors for 4 years, and I just couldn't handle it.

Btw- you're crazy Saturday morning hair? Puh-lease! It's gorgeous!

  12. You are SO BUSY! I don't know how you do it all.
I am DYING over the leave room for Jesus when dancing. You are a hoot and I bet your students love you!
I keep meaning to buy the pie game....but I wonder if my 4 yo will get her feelings hurt? I kind of bet she can't wait to slam a pie in my face though, haha!!

  13. I love the show and tell and idea. Also, I love that the kids went around telling the birthday boy something they about him. I think I am going to be adding both of these to my class. I love that the class prays over him...What a special day he had.
    Happy Monday!
