When I started thinking about this post I knew I wouldn't be able to choose a favorite room because right now I have two :) My kitchen and my boys room. I think my favorite room changes as I change things up in our house, but I really do love the room that Mason and Luke share...
The room is an awkward shape and with lots of varying ceiling heights and a random little "corner" I love how the IKEA furniture fits EXACTLY into the space and gives the appearance (somewhat) of being built in.
We don't have a playroom, so I got creative in "decorating" their shelves with toys and books that we already had.
Two of my favorite things in their room are the "art wire" (it's actually a curtain wire from IKEA) and the mix and match letters that I found at various stores (Hobby Lobby, antique stores, online vintage shops, etc.)
I love that their room also looks fabulous with twinkle lights at Christmastime :)
And this Halloween I had so much fun bringing a few "spooky" elements in as well :)
My other favorite room is my kitchen. We spend the most time in this room and some of my best memories are in here :)
I've mentioned it before, but the area where my kitchen table is was originally designed to by the "family room" in our house... but since we turned the two formal areas in the front of our house into one big family room we were able to switch out the light fixture and make this a big dining area.
And don't even get me started on how much fun I have decorating this space :)
Hope you enjoyed my favorite room(s), I can't wait to see yours!
You chose my two fave rooms too!!! I love love love your kitchen and you made the perfect space for the boys!!

ReplyDeleteYou need to come live in my office and I'll come camp out in your pantry. Deal? Love you, friend!!!
DeleteYou have a lot of genius moments. A LOT. But I think your finest work was when you made the family room your dining room and put the kid's table right of the kitchen. GENIUS I tell ya!

Thank you!!! When we were looking at the house the realtor goes, "oh... and you could easily paint this brick wall so it doesn't look like an Italian restaurant" and I was all, "WHAT?!?!?!" hahaha :) Thank you so much for your sweet words!
DeleteI love how you swapped the rooms and really made that house yours. And that brick wall is just perfect! I adore your kitchen/dining area and all your personal touches :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lynn!
DeleteI absolutely adore your brick wall! It looks so rustic and just pulls everything together :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a fun feature that we really love :)
DeleteWhat did you use to display your sons' artwork? I am trying to fid a fun and easy way to hang it...
ReplyDeleteIt's a curtain wire from IKEA :)
DeleteI adore a shared room ;) Love the brick wall in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me where you got the blue magazine racks hanging on the wall in your boys room that says "Library books"? I've been looking for something like that for my 6 year old! Thanks! Love your blog and your kiddos are adorable. :)

The room for the boys just looks like so much fun! And I heart your kitchen/dining area too! That brick wall alone had me! I always love to see how you are decorating it all :)
ReplyDeleteYour boys are lucky lucky fellows! Also love seeing shared room ideas since our girls will soon be sharing (our baby is still in our room, we don't want her to cry and wake up big sister).
ReplyDeleteLove love love how you've decorated your home! I think it's so nice that you've incorporated elements that can be changed with seasons/holidays and yet still have key pieces that are seasonless/timeless.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I recently found out about a wonderful children's apparel project called Princess Awesome, and thought I might forward to you since you're a mom and a math teacher! The moms over at Princess Awesome have launched an ADORABLE line of dresses and skirts for little girls (and scarves for those of us who aren't so little) with fun prints like the Pi symbol (my favorite!), dinosaurs, astronauts, etc! Their link is below, in case you'd like to learn more :)

That brick wall in your kitchen... I.die! It has been so neat to see all of the fantastic spaces that people have created in their homes.. Thank you for hosting such a fun link up! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the letters!! Would it be weird if I did this with my last name even though I'm not a kid?!?! HA!! Your kitchen is AMAZING!! Love your style Andrea!!
ReplyDeleteMy girls share a room and they love it! Your style is very similar to mine - cluttered sophistication. At least that's what I tell myself. I love having ALL the things every where. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you decorate! I also love that brick wall in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteYou did such a great job making everything in your boy's room work, and it is really cute! Your kitchen is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just love both your rooms so much! I really love your nice big kitchen window and the amount of counter top you have to decorate!! That is such a great feature!
