Getting Our Craft On

Yesterday we had nothing on the agenda, so I decided that we would head to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few things and GET OUR CRAFT ON! :)

My crazies were all in good moods and there was lots of happy squealing and giggling during our shopping trip.

We hung out in the Fall and Christmas aisles and talked about our favorite holidays - Mason is PUMPED about Halloween and apparently Luke is ready for those "delicious rolls" from Thanksgiving. hahaha

We came home, had lunch and I put Griffin down for a nap.  Erika swung by my house on Monday afternoon and dropped off chips and guacamole and while the boys played in their room I got to enjoy some while I did some organizational stuff.  Seriously - I have the best friends!!!

At Hobby Lobby we picked up a 2-pack of canvases, and then I taped off some stripes.  I was super unlike myself when I did this and I just kind of  "guesstimated" and put the tape on there.  The boys used red acrylic paint to cover all the white...

My favorite Mason face is his painting face :)

We let them dry and then the boys peeled off all the tape.

Despite the painters tape.... the sheer amount of paint that Mason used made for smudgy lines - but I think it's kind of cute.

The boys each taped off a square in the upper right hand corner...

... and they painted it blue.  It took several coats.

While we waited for the last coat to dry, the kids ate dinner and then we headed out back to let them "swim" in our giraffe pool.

Griffin was lookin' SUPER cute :)

I snapped a whole three pictures before she was OFF and ready to be in the pool with the boys.

hehehehe
She looks at Luke like this ALL THE TIME! :)

The pool was a big hit :)  Griffin was slipping and sliding around and was kind of a hot mess, and the boys were crazy town - but we had a blast.

When we came back inside, the kiddos finished up their flags.

"Mason, please sit here and smile so Mommy can take a picture of you with your flag."
Crickets.
Best. Picture. Ever.

If you've hung around Mason for any length of time, you've probably realized that things happen on "his time".   He is TOTALLY different than Luke.  TOTALLY.  He is not a pleaser, he's very particular and he will NOT do things until he's ready.  (i.e. - the child is still not potty trained. hahaha).  I have to pick my battles and then, most of the time, it's a battle royal.  But when he's sweet - he's the sweetest.

Luke wasn't digging my hand print idea, so he painted his own star.  Perfect.

His dimples slay me.  SLAY.

The little flag craft was super easy and CHEAP!  I'm going to display mine on some little easels around the house and I think it'll be fun to pull them out year after year.  They would make great surprise gifts for grandparents if you're going to be seeing them for the holiday weekend as well.

I was taking Luke's picture and went to take Mason to brush his teeth and couldn't find him. After calling his name and looking through the bedrooms we found him passed out on the family room floor.  He made it without a nap - but just couldn't make it until bedtime. :)

Happy Wednesday (and Happy Crafting!), friends!!!

ALSO - be sure to check out What Griffin Wore this morning at 9:30 a.m. - I posted a few things from G's closet and marked down things that were left from the last time :)

  9. Love this craft idea! I think we may do this over the weekend! And I have to tell you - we are in the same exact boat with our 2 1/2 year old. She doesn't want to take her afternoon nap, but then either falls asleep around 5pm (which spells DISASTER for bedtime) or is awake but a super grouch, haha!

  16. I love Mason's face! That face is the same face I get from my Hudson when he doesn't want to do something. He was eventually potty trained, but it was a battle and it was done on his terms.

  22. Those are the cutest little flags! We JUST got a Hobby Lobby (first one in the Pacific Northwest) so I've got to get in there. It looks right up my alley! Mason sounds so much like Alivia (she's almost 4). She is VERY particular, stubborn and strong willed, but when she is sweet, oh my, she's the sweetest. I have no idea where she gets it! :) Hope you have a fabulous 4th of July!
