Well - it's July first. Would you like to know what I've accomplished on my LONG summer "to-do" list? Nothing. Absolutely Nothing.
I haven't done touch-up paint, I haven't organized the garage, I haven't sorted the boys outgrown clothes, and I haven't done anything school related.
Truth be told - I'm kind of okay with that. I am LOVING doing "everyday" with my kids and have been soaking it up. Speaking of everyday, here's the past few...
I promise it was unintentional - but my girlfriends noticed that Griffin and I were matching with our ruffles and leopard headwraps and so Narci took a pic. Narci is a professional photographer and it shows... because check out miss G's smile and her hand on my shoulder! I DIE!!! hahaha
While we were swimming, Luke was finishing up his week at Sports Camp at the country club. They worked on golf and tennis in the morning, had lunch and swam in the afternoon. He had a blast and came home EXHAUSTED every day.
Speaking of exhausted.... Mason is in that weird stage where he's really not tired at 1:00 p.m. for a nap.... but by 5:00 he's EXHAUSTED. If he sleeps at 5:00 then he has a hard time going to bed at night. SIGH.
I got him up and he was playing Legos in his room, and about 10 minutes later I went to get him for dinner and found this...
Sweet, sleepy boy!!!
Friday afternoon GG rocked some red, white and blue...
And everyone went to bed early :)
Saturday morning Dave took all three kids to the library. This was G's first time and she was EXCITED and apparently shoe-less. I was at home cleaning (can I get an Amen for being able to vacuum without a little person attached to your leg??? It's the small things) :)
Apparently this locks and latches puzzle was a big hit - it's currently in my Amazon cart. Lets hope they find it equally entertaining in December. (sidenote: I am that weird person who takes care of a lot of Christmas shopping while I am off in the summer. I like to enjoy wrapping presents and all of that and I don't want to have to fight crowds in December. I also just ordered all three of my kids Halloween costumes. Check that off the crazy list!).
After lunch the boys headed outside to play and they spent several hours in the sandbox. They were wet, sandy, gross.... and CRAZY happy :) I'm not sure there's much they love more than being out in the sandbox.
They came inside and took baths - and then I found Mason passed out on our bed. Hopefully we'll get this no-nap thing down STAT!
My dad picked Luke up to take him to see Maleficent, and Mason's consolation prize was eating dinner sitting on the counter...
... and eating Nutella straight out of the jar. :)
"Seriously, mom????"
Paci - check.
Backpack - check.
In case you're curious - I wore one of my favorite dresses (I blogged about it here) - and Mason asked me again if I was getting married. hahaha
My dad was in Canada for the past week and a half and he brought back this picture from my Grandparents house. That is me and my Granny circa 1986. Look like anyone we know???
I was two in the picture, but I still think she definitely favors me. I also see some Mason in there as well.
The boys played with some giant bubble thing (honestly - I have no clue what to call it!) that my dad brought them from Canada - and they had so much fun!
Monday was a super "normal" day. Dave was off and he took the kids on errands while I worked on Slightly Askew projects (I was delusional in thinking that I could get more accomplished during the summer.... hello three kids all day! hahaha I'm moving slowly, but surely). They got my van inspected, ran to the Wal-Mart to get a pump for our little pool, etc.
Monday night we met Dave's parents, grandmas, youngest brother Stephen and his girlfriend (SHOUTOUT, CYNTHIA!) for dinner. Stephen rides a motorcycle and my boys are infatuated with his helmets...
I didn't even notice until someone on IG pointed it out - but check out Mason's super appropriate shirt!
So, in conclusion...
Have I been super productive? No.
Have I been having a great time? Yes.
The. End. :)
I just loved this post! I laughed out loud at all of the Mason asleep pictures! Those are so funny!! And yes ma'am...you and Miss G are totally twins! Love you friend! And I looooooooove doing summer with you!!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I snapped a pic of him asleep I thought of Smith :) hahaha And I love doing summer with you too! :)
DeleteSo funny because Shay blogged about Christmas shopping in July too! Kindred spirits! :) And...Poor Mason!! Awe! I hope he gets that nap thing figured out soon!
ReplyDeleteI just saw that! So so so funny!!! Mason does things totally on Mason's timetable - so we'll probably have it figured out JUST in time for the babysitter's house in August :)
DeleteI hit "publish" too soon!! And...I'm glad you haven't gotten anything done off that list! It's been fun hanging out!!
ReplyDeleteI just saw that dress is on sale for $26!!
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO! Scoop it up, lady! I will say that it's pretty tiny in the top (lots of embroidery and ZERO stretch).... but if that will work for you, you should try it out!
DeleteI have several things I need to say: 1) I laughed out loud at that first pic of the boys in the helmets. Hilarious. 2) OMG at you and Griffin. But I also think the baby picture of you looks a lot like Luke! 3) I'm all on board with you buying Christmas gifts early......BUT YOU WRAP THEM TOO? Wow. That's impressive. And maybe a little annoying. :) 4) LOVE your new TOMS. 5) Love you!
ReplyDeleteOkay - I reread my sentence and it does sound like I wrap them - which I totally do not. hahaha I want to "enjoy" wrapping them in November/December and not be running around wrapping stuff on Christmas Eve. I should have clarified that . I will admit that I'm crazy - but not that crazy (yet). Maybe I should start wrapping stuff now! hahaha
DeleteI try to get all my Christmas shopping done in the summer. It makes December so much less stressful. Your kids are so cute, love all their sweet pictures.
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not alone :) I hate shopping just to find "something" last minute - I'd much rather find something awesome in the summer and just hold on to it. And thank you! I think they're cute too - but I'm a little partial. hahaha
DeleteIt's hard to be productive when it's so much more fun to just enjoy summer! It looks like summer is wearing poor Mason out! Glad y'all are enjoying your summer!
ReplyDeleteAmen! During the school year I have a lot of structure and designated time to do things - in the summer it's kind of a free for all :) Mason is totally worn out every day - which I'm taking as a sign of a good day. hahaha
DeleteI love this! This summer I am the same way. Not too much getting checked off my to do list however I'm soaking up having my kiddos home. With Olivia having started kindergarten last year ...well let's just say I cried the first 3 months daily and missed her like crazy,,,,so I love having them home, sleeping in and being lazy because quickly school will start again and they'll be gone ;( happy Tuesday sweet lady!!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I know I'll turn around and it will be August and I'll be headed back to school, so I'm soaking it all in!!! Happy Tuesday do you, too! :)
DeleteHaha! Look at how much fun you are having!! Yes, trying to work on anything with three kids running around is next to impossible, but it is SO fun, right?? Looks like the perfect summer to me!!
ReplyDeleteCompletely impossible. My favorite is when they're all quiet and occupied and so I try to get something done and the minute I start they all need me :) But yes - perfect so far!!!
DeleteYou and GG do favor!! So much omg. I loved mason's little motorcycle shirt too haha. so glad Luke had fun at sports camp too! Camp in the morning, swimming in the afternoon...sounds like the perfect day to me :) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. My parents have always told me that she favors me - but this just confirmed it :) And yes - to be six and at Sports camp... living the life! :)
DeleteLol, about Mason and naps!! We are having the same problem too!! You and Griffen for sure are twins!! Go you on Christmas shopping and wrapping..you have inspired me:)
ReplyDeleteSo I reread my sentence and it totally sounds like I wrap - which I don't :) I enjoy wrapping and love doing it while watching a movie with a cup of hot tea.... NOT shoving something in a gift bag Christmas eve after last minute shopping. hahaha I should have clarified. ALTHOUGH - now I'm seriously considering getting some wrapping done! #crazytown
DeleteLove your grey top with you showing off your fabulous new Toms....wondering where that grey top is from?!? I so need to get my Christmas shopping on!!! Baby on the way and due November 30th....Sooo yeah!!! I need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteWhere in Canada are you from? Just curious as a fellow Canadian.
ReplyDeleteAndrea!! Seriously these everyday posts are my fav!! So Mason sleeping!? Ahhh!! I am in the EXACT same boat with Bella!! If you figure out a magic plan let me know!! :) ...and the "getting married" comment. I died laughing!! ;) ...& my Toms JUST came yesterday!! Eeeek!! SO SO excited & loving them!!
ReplyDeleteYou and Griffin are twins!!! I am a second grade teacher, home in the summer with my boys, and I also have accomplished not much school-related. And that's fine with me! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSeriously genius to start buying Christmas presents now too. I usually default to online come December and regret it. I should start shopping sales now!
ReplyDeleteAlso, is that an Otter Box case on your iPad? Looks SO protective...which is just what I need!
