Weekend Recap and lots of random thoughts :)

My "weekend" started on Friday when I took 10 of my students to the ACSI Math Olympics.  Back in November, I selected 12 of my 7th and 8th Graders to take the District level Math Olympics test in either the reasoning or computation category.  10 out of my 12 qualified for the Area level test which was held at another private school and while my kiddos took their tests, I "chaperoned", gave pep talks and attempted to get organized for this upcoming week.

I had a student place 5th and two sweet, smart girls took second AND first place in the computation category!  LOVE!!!!  #girlpower #smartgirls

We all got home on Friday afternoon and were READY for some time together in the GORGEOUS weather!

Especially Miss G :)

Saturday morning the boys went to the Home Depot Kids workshop...
this is a perfect example of 95% of the pictures that I take :) hahaha

They came back with awesome trojan horse piggy banks!!!

After the boys got home Griffin and I headed to a Matilda Jane trunk show!  I've blogged about MJ before, but in case you missed it - it's my absolute favorite brand of little girl clothes.  They're sweet, whimsical, age appropriate, fun and are GREAT quality.

You order through a representative called a "Jane" and when they release a new collection you can attend trunk shows in your area to see the clothes in person.  I've always just ordered online, so it was fun to get to go and meet some other MJ mamas and see the clothes in person.

It's super fun to mix and match and seeing all the detail in person is awesome!
Sidenote: I'm thinking of hosting a "virtual show" this month.  The way it would work would be you'd go the the Matilda Jane website, look at the different collections and create a wishlist.  You'd email the wishlist to me (I'd be your "Jane") and then I'd place the order.  The orders would come to me and then I'd get them to you!  You can be from wherever since the show is all online.  If you think you might be interested, send me an email at andrea@slightlyaskewdesigns.com so I can add you to my email list for more details.)

Just in case you want to see a few pieces from the current line of clothes... Here are a few pieces...

I'm pretty sure this top and ruffles are going to be her Easter outfit and what she wears for our Spring pics... but I'm also loving the top in the pic above for family pics as well.  We'll see!!!  Thoughts??? :)

After the show, Griffin and I headed out to run errands.  "Seriously, mom??? More errands?!?!?!" :)

After lunch and before naptime Griffin and Mason got in some "good" snuggle time :)

Everyone woke up HAPPY!!!

Griffin placed a few important calls :)

And then Luke thought it would be a good idea to let her chew on his toes... and I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures instead of ending it right away.  hahaha #thirdbabyproblems

snack time! (Check out that HAIR!!!)

I decided to put Mason in underwear on Saturday because we were almost out of diapers and I thought it was time.  I was wrong.  hahaha

He has ZERO interest in using the potty (or peeing outside or aiming for a cheerio or earning candies or getting cool new underwear or anything else I could think of).  He didn't have any accidents, but he also never peed in the potty.  He waited until I put him in the bathtub and then informed me that he was peeing.  Awesome.

I figure that I'll give it a rest for a while and maybe try again this summer.  Hopefully by that time he'll show some interest, but in the mean time I don't want to push it if he's not ready.  His little hiney sure is cute in underwear, though!!!

Dave worked super late on Saturday night (technically Sunday morning) and had to go back in on Sunday before lunch, so we decided to just play it low key and stay home in the morning.  A big storm was supposed to come in and it was just way easier.

I'm super glad that we ended up staying home, because the crazy "thunder sleet" rolled in and everything is now currently under a lovely coating of ice.

We hung out inside (me in my robe!) and practiced waving to the baby in the mirror :)
And Griffin got lucky and got in a few snuggles with Mason before nap time :)

Daddy thought it would be funny to put Griffin in one of Mason's t-shirts instead of a bib for dinner... This is what Griffin thought of her new look...

... all cleaned up and ready for bed!!!
AND it turns out that this is going to be a THREE DAY weekend since schools are now cancelled for tomorrow due to the ice!  My teacher self is super upset because I HAVE STUFF TO DO WITH MY KIDS, but my mommy self is excited :)  My Slightly Askew self is also really excited since I'm still playing catch up from when my computer died last week.  Hope y'all are staying warm today!!!

  10. I love, love, love MJ!! But my daughter is nine and she is not in love like I am. Boo. I still go online and browse because I just can't help myself! I love the versatility of it all, how it effortlessly goes from season to season and the 'different' factor. She didn't look the same as everyone else! Can you tell I'm super sad about not being able to buy MJ anymore? I have two boys, ages 6 and 3. It's fun to buy for them but not as fun as girls! Enjoy every moment! Love seeing your precious Griffin in her adorable wardrobe!

  11. Your kiddos are the cutest! Matilda Jane virtual trunk show?!? O.M.G! :D Might have to keep that on the downlow from the hubby... He is not a fan of my blog reading due to the never ending Nordstrom boxes on our door step. His repsonse "Did Pinterest tell you to do that?" That she did..;)
