It was a ZOO!

On Thursday we decided to head to the Fort Worth Zoo.  We LOVE the Ft Worth zoo and we were excited to get to enjoy the pretty weather at one of our favorite places.  My dad had told us on Wednesday night that he'd heard the zoo had their busiest day of the year that day - but I assumed it was because Wednesday was their half price day.  We pulled onto the street that the zoo is on and BAM....
I have NEVER EVER seen so many cars.  We had to park WAY WAY WAY far away (apparently there was no pregnant lady parking - hahaha) and the zoo was literally a zoo.

My attempts at taking pictures were foiled by the THRONGS of people swarming everywhere and walking directly in front of my camera every time I got it out, but here are a few I managed to snap.

And a few via Instagram - Super Daddy :)
Dave took a week of vacation (starting this past Wednesday) and we have SOOOOOOOOOOO enjoyed having him at home.

Every time I take out my "big stroller" I get TONS of questions about it (people taking pics of it so they can look it up, etc. etc.), so in case you're wondering - it's the Joovy Ergo Caboose (with the green seat covers... the seats are normally black).  It's a sit and stand and we LOVE it.  And to think that I was THIS close to consigning it (like... it was packed up in the car along with all of our baby stuff the morning I decided to take a pregnancy test on a whim).  Thanking my lucky stars I took that test when I did :)

Me and my monkeys in front of the monkeys...

It was a teeny bit sunny...

Elephant time!

My boys checking out the lionesses (who looked like they were posing for everyone up on their little perch thing)...

We were really looking to feeding the birds, but it was PACKED so we opted to stop and eat lunch first.  We made it to a little picnic area and they had a "how far can you jump" thing set up.  Luke was super excited to try it out...

He would jump and then do this little "shuffle" thing for the rest of the way and claim to have jumped 12 feet :)

Mason wanted to finish his brownie before he attempted a jump.

Dave and Mason jumping...

Time for Mason to attempt a jump on his own...

Check out that grin (and that overbite! Orthodontia here we come!)...

We headed over the the western town and the boys tried out a stage coach...

We saw bats and touched some starfish and by then Mason was WIPED!!!

After we went through the Museum of Living Art it was time for my favorite part of the zoo... ICE CREAM!  Earlier in the day I had made the mistake of telling Luke that he could pick whatever ice cream he wanted... and of course, he picked krazy kolors :)  I couldn't say no (he was sooooooooo stinkin' excited about his ice cream choice) and so we ended up with this...

We walked the mile back to the car and it took a while since at this point prego was moving pretty slow to avoid having Griffin on the trail back to the car and the first thing we did was figure out where the closest Sonic was.  We detoured for a Diet Coke and mozzarella sticks and then set off for home.

Luke napped and Mason watched a movie, smelled his feel (and kept saying EWWWW! STINKY!!!) and looked super cute.

It was a LONG day, but so much fun with our boys. We decided to stay local this Spring Break and take the boys to do some of their favorite things before little sister comes.  It's still surreal for me to think that the next time we head to the zoo we'll have THREE little monkeys!

  1. I LOVE my Joovy Sit-n-Stand, too! I just got one of the seat pads, but it's just boring black, which actually covers up the TCU purple of my stroller... bummer. Great pics!
