Poor Baby!

Mason came down with a little cough and runny nose last Sunday after his afternoon nap. We didn't think too much of it, even as his cough got a little worse Monday and Tuesday. Dave was off of work on Wednesday and had planned to golf, but since we were having flash floods his plans didn't work out and he ended up hanging out with the boys at home all day. When I got home from school his "report" (hahaha) was that Mason had played well all day, eaten a great lunch and been in a happy mood - but that he couldn't get him to drink his bottle. I debated about taking him in to the pediatrician and finally called at 4:10 and made an appointment for 4:20. When we got there we had to wait in the room for a bit and my sweet, happy boy was FASCINATED by the baby in the mirror...
He played and played and when the doctor came in to do her exam she completely blindsided me.

My baby, whose only symptom was not drinking well tested positive for RSV, had croup and to top it all off a double ear infection! He got more and more pitiful by the moment (as did his guilty mommy) and we ended the appointment with a steroid shot, list of instructions and prescription for an antibiotic. The plus side of a sick baby?!?!?! More snuggle time (even if it is with messy hair, mismatched PJs and a messy room. hahaha)

The boys hung out at home again on Thursday and Friday and I took Mason in for a follow-up appointment Friday afternoon (right in the middle of nap time, may I add). His breathing sounded awful, she diagnosed him with bronchiolitis and he had a breathing treatment in the office:

He was WIPED before we even got there, and the noise of the machine and the rocking of the stroller knocked him out!

His congestion didn't make any drastic improvements with the treatment, so we left without a prescription and headed home for a few more days of "quarantine".

He's drinking well again and seems to be back to his old self (even though he never really acted super puny!)

We're keeping our fingers crossed that this is our only illness this Winter, although he handled it like a little trooper. A few more days of antibiotics and he should be good as new.

Little Golfer

Dave has decided that the time has come to get Luke "into" golf :) So on Friday (the first day of Dave's vacation time that it wasn't pouring rain!) he, Luke and Haha set out to play nine holes. Luke was most excited about the golf course, as always: Apparently we need to get this boy some new khakis - I guess he's grown a "little" since the last time he wore these. :)

Check out that natural form :)

Not a great one of Luke, but I thought HAha would like it :)

And the best part of the day - running through the sand traps:

Such a fun day! :)

Silly Faces

Now that Mason's feeling better (more on that in another post), he's been treating us to a plethora of sweet and silly faces.

Sweet.... Silly...
Sweet...

Silly...

Sillier...
Sweeter...
Silly again...
Still silly...

So so sweet! (and yes, those ARE my patio furnitire cushions stacked up in the background... we had a squirrel DESTROY our last set and so I don't leave ours out for any length of time anymore. hahaha)

Sid Love

One of my very very favorite things are Sid Dickens Memory Blocks. I was introduced to them when I worked weekends at Ambrosia (a boutique on the McKinney square) and got my first one (the yellow "Once Upon A Time" block) when Luke was born. They all have a story behind them (the Jesus tile I won at the MCA auction a few years ago - I had a student bidding for me and she had the best time "watching" the sheet and took great pride in sneaking in right after the last bidder to win it. hehehe, Luke picked out the one with the heart for Mother's Day last year, etc. etc).
I started with three tiles back in 2008 and my collection has grown to 20! YAY! Every Fall and Spring the designer comes out with a new collection as well as a retirement list.

They're all handmade and unique and I am obsessed with all the different textures and finishes.
My in-laws gave me this one for Christmas this year and I LOVE it! It's my first all silver tile.
My parents gave me this "Tree of Life" block (it was a Habitat for Humanity online benefit auction) and I LOVE how weird it is. hahaha Anyway, not sure if I've ever shared about them before so I thought I'd take a minute to show you!

Be sure to check out Sid's site: www.siddickens.com - the Spring 2012 collection is out to look at and there are a couple that I am absolutely DROOLING over. :)

Story Time with Gibi

Pillow Talk

I think that Mason may need a pillow. Every night when we go in to check on him we find him sound asleep on top of a blanket that he's balled up. He seriously does this every night! Sweet snuggly boy :)

Breakfast with Woody and Jessie

Last weekend we went to "Breakfast with Woody and Jessie" at The Ranch Country Club and had THE BEST time! I was totally impressed with how great Woody and Jessie looked and they were both "in character" so well (Dave's in the picture because he works with both of them - hahaha) Woody "deputized" look and he thought it was just about the coolest thing EVER! (and Mason thought Jessie was pretty cool). hahaha There was a big pancake buffet, which of course, all three of my boys LOVED! Mason ate almost an entire pancake along with some sausage, fruit, etc.

OMG! How cute is this pic?!?!?!
Luke even got a Woody and Jessie coloring book and they came around and autographed it! They also had Toy Story 2 playing in the dining room which Luke thought was pretty AWESOME! We had an awesome time and can't wait until the next character breakfast!

(random sidenote: How much does Woody look like John Krasinski - Jim from The Office - crazy, right?!?!?!)

GOMP!

Diana gave Luke an awesome boat for Christmas that came with a chomping shark. She got it pretty much just for the shark, because Luke says "GOMP" instead of chomp andI think she just wanted to hear him say "This shark is gomping you" a bunch of times :)
Not only does the shark GOMP, but if you look closely on it's belly you can see that it actually eats things and then the ship has a spot on it where when you catch the shark you can turn it upside down, "cut into it" and get whatever it swallowed out.

If something small at our house is missing (one of Mason's socks, a lego piece, my keys, etc.) chances are it's inside the shark's belly.
The shark doesn't just have an appetite for random household objects, but also fingers, hair and noses... Luke sure LOVES his gomping shark!!! Thanks, Diana!!! :)
