A Few Easter Touches

If you've followed here for a while you might remember my Easter decor has always been little speckled eggs, moss, etc.  This past weekend I was at Homegoods and I came across some FABULOUS big rattan carrots and a completely new Easter decor theme popped into my head. 

Boys Room - Decked!

Last week I shared our house all decorated for Christmas (click HERE to see that post!) and so today I'm going to show y'all some the boys room!  There's a cute little tree in Griffin's room - but apparently I forgot to take pictures - so I'll have to save that for another day.

Luke and Mason share a room - and while they REALLY wanted a big tree - it's close quarters so I opted for lots of twinkle lights and some festive little touches instead.

I filled a couple little jars with candy canes and ornaments and then displayed a few Christmas books on the shelves as well.  Dave laughs at me for doing this because he says it looks like the special books on top of the library shelves :)

I put a garland on their dresser (yes... that's an aquarium... we have a turtle named Sharpie. hahaha.  I'll blog about him another time) and filled it with ornaments and Hot Wheels cars.

The white trees I found at Target a couple of years ago...

Okay.... so last year I picked up this PEACE marquee sign at Target.  But then I had no idea what to do with it.  hahaha

It sat in the game closet for an entire year. The letters don't stand up and I didn't love how they looked propped up.  They were awkward to hang and I just got super frustrated.  A couple of weeks ago I was putting some things away in the garage and I saw this random board (I think it's leftover from when I made the Monster beanbag toss for the kids birthday last Spring)

I painted the entire board white using acrylic paint, then taped off stripes.

Let it dry and then peeled off the tape.  Then I just laid the letters out (this was the hardest part since the letters were wired together and so I was limited as to how I could arrange them).

I really wanted to hang it on the wall - but it was crazy heavy and so I used an extra table I had and propped it up.  Kind of jimmy-rigged, but it works for now. ;)

The small tree on their table is decked with classy ornaments like Spiderman and socks. :)

I think my favorite part of their room right now are the Dr. Seuss sheets.  They're incredibly soft and adorable and on sale at Pottery Barn kids right now.  I was pregnant with Griffin when I bought these and I MAY have bawled like a baby when I showed them to Dave talking about how I was going to put these sheets on their beds every year and that someday when they came home from college I was still going to put them on.  I sobbed and blubbered and then sobbed and blubbered some more.  It was a good time ;)

And at night ;)  And yes.... one of the beds is sheetless.  #reallife

I can NOT believe that Christmas is two weeks away!  The excitement at our house is palpable :)

Come On In - Christmas Decorations Edition

Y'all - I have been looking forward to this day for MOOOOOONTHS!!!!  What's the only thing better than getting a peek inside people's homes???  Getting peek inside when they're decorated!

So, enough with the chit chat.... on with the pics!

This is standing inside our front door...

The little tree on our front hall buffet table has our glitter ornaments from Pottery Barn with everyone's initials.

I'm a total sucker for Christmas pillows - and most of mine are from Home Goods.

At the end of last year we got rid of our old tree.  I found a FANTASTIC deal on this one and our old pre-lit was pretty much falling apart.  I LOVE the quality of this one and it's a lot more narrow - which at first I was hesitant about, but I'm actually really loving it now.

I like to decorate the same way I like to dress - with layers.  Lots of layers.  ;)

The tiles that are around on easels and on my one wall are by Sid Dickens and they're my FAVORITE decor pieces.  Dave's parents give me one for my birthday and Christmas every year and Dave surprises me with them sometimes as well.   They're timeless and I love how easy they are to display.

Our big tree doesn't have a theme or any kind of "order" other than fun memories.  Dave and I have excianged ornaments since 2000 and we give our kids an ornament each year as well.  We pick them up when we travel and for special occasions.

The fudgesicle was for Luke from my mom last year - because they walked to the little corner store at least once a week to buy fudgesicles.  The handmade one was by Mason last year at Home for the Holidays and the hamburger was our ornament for Luke the year that he and Mason were a hamburger and hotdog for Halloween.

When I was pregnant with Griffin, the boys dubbed her "Popcorn" and this is the ornament that was left for her that year :)

My favorite ornaments are the handmade ones.  This is Luke's handprint from Pre-K.

Looking into the kitchen...

This is real life, friends.  That hurricane lamp needs a SERIOUS windexing and I'm printing a santa pic for the frame... but I don't have it yet :)

Our stockings are GIANT and are from Pottery Barn kids.  I ordered them a few years ago the day after Christmas for a really big discount - and I didn't read the dimensions very carefully :)  It worked out though since we're REALLY good all year. hahaha

I had the embroidery done locally since I wanted the scale to match the stocking size.

The small tree next to the fireplace is kind of my "decorative" tree - I have jeweled pears and pomegranates and lots of little picks.

All of the little jeweled garlands and picks are actually from our wedding.  My mom and I found them at Crate and Barrel and used them on our tables.

I found this chalkboard on Craigslist - and because it's so big I like to use real chalk.

The window behind my sink is my favorite spot to decorate and I incorporated a bunch of jeweled fruit and ornaments that were our wedding favors :)

This nativity was a wedding gift and is super special to us.

The kids really don't mess with the Christmas decorations - but on the off chance that they do I keep this one safe up here.

I decorated the kids rooms a bit as well - but due to the OVERWHELMING number of pics I already posted (and wanting to wrap up a garland project), I'm going to save that for another post.  I can't wait to grab a cup of tea tonight and look through all of your posts!
