Freckle Heart Tattoos ;)

On Mother's Day I shared this story slide to IG....

... and could not stop cracking up at y'alls responses.  Back in February I went on our girls trip to Savannah and never got around to blogging it (UGH!!!) and then just never thought about sharing that I was one of the girls who got a tattoo on the trip. The responses killed me because apparently I don't give off tattoo vibes! hahaha My mom would agree ;)

So here's the deal - after Manda passed away we all talked about getting a tattoo. It's always been something that has kind of been on the table but there are several girls in our group who are 1000% no on tattoos so the talk dwindled over the years. But every time we go on a girls trip we talk about it and every year I say I'd be down. Well.... this year we had some time in our day and essentially my bluff was called ;) I'd seen freckle tattoos before and immediately knew I'd love to have three tiny heart freckles to represent my kids.

The girls immediately started googling fine line tattoo artists in Savannah and we landed at essentially a spa/salon type place where the girl who does the tattooing was booked weeks and weeks out. So we made our way over to the next closet tattoo spot which was as stereotypical tattoo parlor as you could imagine ;)

When we walked in we couldn't have looked more out of place - which was too funny.  I met James and explained what I was looking for, he completely laughed at me and immediately started calling me freckles, and got to work figuring out what color ink would match my other freckles ;) He was SO FUN but super professional and made me feel completely at ease.

I told him that I didn't want him to stencil them out, that I wanted him just to "doodle them" so they were each unique. He doodled out some teeny hearts...

... placed them where I wanted them...

... and in probably less than 5 minutes he was done.

He taped me up, gave me my after care instructions and that was that!

There was a guy getting a full back piece done at the same time and he also hassled me about my tiny heart freckles which was so fun. I'm pretty sure he may have added a heart freckle to his back because he liked mine so much ;) hahahaha

I'm fairly certain I was James's easiest tattoo of all time (he's super talented!) and I kind of love that my first tattoo experience was with him and in his shop.

Meagan also got a tattoo - she has several already and knew what she wanted before we got there which was fun. Overall it was a super unexpected but FUN experience and I wouldn't change it for the world ;)

To answer some questions...

- It didn't hurt at all

- he used brown ink instead of black because I wanted them to look like freckles not tattoos
- he warned me that they'll probably fade... which I'm totally fine with

- mine took a while to heal... but my skin is super sensitive and weird and everything takes forever to heal on my body so this wasn't surprising

- I would 1000% do it again and, honestly, I kind of wish I'd had him add more because they're so stinking cute

- he charged me $120 (I think!) which was his minimum price. I feel like I could have easily asked him to do a few more for that price but wasn't sure where I'd want them so I said I'd be back ;)

HAPPY Wednesday, friends!!!
