I always like to try out what I call "school night dinners" during the summer to up my repertoire of meals that are quick, minimal cleanup, and that all of my kids will be excited about. These sliders were all of those things PLUS they're something my kids can make start-to-finish on their own which is a bonus.
What You'll Need...
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- salt and pepper
- garlic powder
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- sliced medium cheddar (about 8 slices)
- grated medium cheddar (about 6 oz)
- 24 dinner rolls
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, plus another little bit
- sesame seeds
What You'll Do...
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet
- Brown your ground beef with your chopped onion, breaking it up as you go. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until no longer pink, drain, and remove from the heat. Stir in 1/4 cup mayo.
- Cut your rolls in half (as one big "sheet" of rolls). Please the bottom half of the rolls on your bakinhg sheet and line the rolls with the sliced cheddar. Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the sliced cheese and then cover with the shredded cheddar.
- Place the top of the buns over the meat/cheese mixture, brush the tops with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and immediately sprinkle the tops with sesame seeds.
- Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
- Serve with condiments, pickles, etc.
If you make these I'd love to hear what you think! Happy Wednesday, friends!
