Easy Tween Bday Party Idea

April is always PACKED with sports and school events and social stuff - so when we realized that we were going to have the Monday after Easter off with NOTHING on the calendar G decided it was the perfect day to load up as many friends as we could fit in my car and head out for some birthday fun.  We asked her friends to meet us at Starbucks and get picked up on the square a couple of hours later but didn't get them details which was super fun.

We kicked things off with some presents while we waited for everyone's drinks...

... and then snapped the first of many group pics before loading the car and heading to our first stop.

... Buff City for bath bombs!  The whole idea of this little party started when Griffin was talking about how much fun she had at her party where the girls all got to make bath bombs and she was considering doing that again but we couldn't book it that quick.

The girls smelled EVERYTHING and then they each picked out a soap/bath bomb and we headed out to our next stop...

... Downtown McKinney!  We HAD to grab a couple of cute pics in front of what I think is the best mural downtown...

... including "Zara model" pics ;)

Then we walked over to the yard where we ordered appetizers and I broke out the journal supplies.

I ordered a set of plain journals and a few sets of stickers for them to go through and brought along a pack of fun sharpies.  They had SO MUCH FUN planning out their notebooks, sifting through the stickers, and decorating their journals.

They snacked, crafted, giggled and I hung out at the other end of the table and answered some emails to give them their space ;)

It was the most GORGEOUS day which was super convenient ;)

After snacks and crafts we stopped in for dessert to go at Emporium pies...

... and did a teeny bit of shopping...

... before having a little pie picnic before everyone got picked up.

This was honestly the most fun party.  The girls were super excited at every one of our little stops and it was fun for G to get to treat everyone to a few of her favorite things.  G just turned 12 and this was the PERFECT way to celebrate her and do something special without it being a full-on birthday party.

If you have a tween celebrating a birthday I can't recommend this kind of party enough!  You could easily add/take away stops to fit your time/budget or add a scavenger hunt element to it where they have to take pictures at certain spots (we considered this, but it seemed like a lot of work - hahaha).

I still can't believe that we're at the point in parties where there wasn't a coordinated napkin or cake topper in sight BUT I'm not mad about it because how can you be mad about shopping, crafts, apps and PIE?!?!?!

HAPPY Thursday, friends!!!

  2. What a fun party! I did a similar party for my eldest and hope to do one for my youngest next year. It’s such a fun age! Next time, definitely add in the photo scavenger hunt! I took the kids to a park, divided them into two groups, gave them a list of things there had to find with rules that at least 4 of them had to be in every picture and they had one hour to finish and text me the pics. Then I just sat back with a friend and sipped a coffee and watched as they had the best time with silly poses and creative shots to capture each item. It was so much fun and the pictures were so cute! Best, easiest party I’ve thrown for kids!
