Peanut Butter Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

I'm going to be really honest.  I'm not generally a big rice krispie treat fan.  They're typically super sticky and just kind of unmanageably sweet.  Griffin, on the other hand, would eat them DAILY ;)

I saw a recipe for peanut butter chocolate rice krispie treats and decided to give them a whirl and they are a game changer... and please know that I don't use that phrase lightly because I actually hate that phrase - hahaha. They're not sticky, they cut super easily, the chocolate top is chefs kiss... they're just delish!

What You'll Need...
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 6 cups Rice Krispies

What You'll Do...
- Melt the butter with the peanut butter and mini marshmallows over med-low heat

- Remove from the heat and stir in the rice krispies

- Press the rice krispie mixture into a 9x13 OR a baking pan lined with parchment paper.  I think my pan was a little bigger than 9x13 which made them a little thinner which we LOVED!

- Put the chocolate chips and oil into a small sauce pan and melt over med-low heat until everything is super smooth.  Pour over the rice krispies and refrigerate until set.  Cut into squares and enjoy!

Note: I upped the chocolate to two cups because my tray was so large (more surface area) but if I was making these in a 9x13 I'd use 1 1/3 cup chocolate chips and only 2 tablespoons of oil.  My family LOVED the chocolate but you could always scale it up or down to suit your preferences

So yummy and so easy! Let me know what you think if you try these out!

  1. I really want to try these, but rice krispie treats are the bane of my existence. Not kidding... Mine come out so hard you could break a tooth. Well maybe that's dramatic, but they are very hard. I've tried everything...big/little marshmallows, butter/margarine, etc. But these look so delicious that I'm willing to try again!
