Teacher Tuesday: Classroom Tour

Not much has changed in my classroom since last year's post but it just wouldn't be back-to-school without a little classroom tour so here we are!  My "theme" is fun and comfy and that's about it.  Math can be intimidating and sterile for a lot of kids so I've tried to create a warm and welcoming and fun environment for them.  It always smells good and there are always twinkle lights on ;)

I switched to lab tables a few years ago and I LOVE THEM!!!!

I have a blue velvet sofa back here as well as my nugget couch stacked in the corner to make some soft spots for kids to land during homework time, group work or after school.

I added some little birthday daschunds this year for a birthday shoutout area and I LOVE IT!

Every year I say I'm going to chance out  this board and then I just leave it. Maybe next year!

The banner was made by a senior who has started a business making sings.  I had her pick a verse and colors and I love it!

This podium has been with me for YEARS and I had stickers on it - so when I upgraded my podium I didn't want to get rid of it.  My dad cut the slanted top surface off of it and now it serves as a plant (and disco ball) stand and I keep adding stickers.

This back table houses a bunch of stuff that kids need access to... extra pencils, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, markers, rulers, the pencil sharpener, a mirror, etc.

I like having it at the back because it's not distracting when kids need to utilize it.

The mug rack is still one of my very favorite things.  I'm able to display mugs that students have given me over the years and use them on on a daily basis!

My desk area is my little sanctuary - I love the window, I love the cabinets, I love it all.

There you have it!  Is it perfect? No.  Is it kind of a mess because I'm still settling in to the year? Absolutely.  But it's fun and welcoming and I spent A TON of time in here so I love that it's happy.

HAPPY Tuesday, friends!!!

  1. "a soft place to land" --- love that. I hope you have a wonderful year! From one teacher to another, it isn't an easy job. Thank goodness it's so rewarding ❤️

  2. I'll never forget my 7th grade math teacher used to ask us "do you know the answer or are you dumb?!" My middle school self would have LOVED this warm and inviting math classroom!! Now, as an SLP in the school system, I always try to achieve a similar place for my kiddos! Have a great year!! <3

  3. I love it! My daughter is in 5th, but that is middle school in her feeder pattern. Her math teacher this year is fine, but her classroom matches the subject matter. My daughter is appalled at how drab the room is! LOL!

  4. Your classroom is by far the most welcoming classroom I have ever seen.
