We're fully back at school this week and I thought it would be fun to share a peek into my classroom. I've mentioned this before, but I started off in this same room 18 years ago which still blows my mind.
Here's what it looked like back on my first day....
... and here it is now!
Last year I had a large piece of furniture here BUT when Dave and I went to pull it away from the wall to try and fix one of the shelves one of the back legs snapped off so I got rid of that and switched things up with this rug and the nugget that used to be in our game room and then Mason's room. My students have LOVED hanging out over here during homework time.
Math can be intimidating and sterile for a lot of kids so I've tried to create a warm and welcoming and fun environment for them. It always smells good and there are always twinkle lights on ;)
I moved this table to the back to house my pencil sharpener, other supplies they might need, etc. and I love that it's less disruptive when kids need to get something during a lesson.
The disco balls are my new favorite ;). They're actually planters but I haven't had a chance to add plants to them yet. I also ordered these clips to go on my ceiling to hang them from and they're a game changer!
"The Fridge" bulletin board is where I put up student work to display... like when your mom would hang your special papers on the fridge ;)
I considered taking down this sign wall... but at the end of the day I didn't have another idea for it so it lives on for another year ;)
My home away from home ;)
The view from this window is my favorite. I've LOVED watching my kiddos play out here for years and years!
This summer I found this awesome couch on FB Marketplace - I wasn't looking for a blue couch to start out with BUT I love how it looks and LOVE that it won't get as dirty as a lighter color. It's the prettiest velvet and is super comfy!
The rug is from Anthro and was in G's room for years. She decided she didn't want it a few years ago and I brought it up to my classroom and have enjoyed it daily!
I got a new podium/standing desk to work from this year (so much better for my document camera) so my dad cut the top off of my old podium so I could put plants in it and keep my stickers ;)
This plant is a little aggressive over here but I'm going with it for now ;). I use this table for after school tutoring, to keep organized during my classes, etc.
My middle school self board is still up ;)
One of my favorite additions was this mug rack from a few years ago. I have received a LOT of mugs as gifts and this was a fun way to display my favorites.
There you have it! If you're looking for me Mon-Friday for the next 9 months this is where I'll be!
HAPPY Wednesday, friends!!!
I always love seeing your classroom, and I love the changes you made this year. If you ever get rid of those signs, you'd sell them so fast on FB Marketplace! I love that one that says, "Holy Spirit, You are welcome here." I could see that wall becoming brighter and with happy colors that you love. Thanks for sharing this with us! I hope you have a wonderful year once again!
ReplyDeleteI could not love this post MORE!! This is one of my faves each and every year. I bet your kids immediately get filled with warmth and coziness when they step in.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved your classroom! It's so bright and cheery and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteJust like your home, your classroom is so cozy!
ReplyDeleteCan I just live in your classroom? It looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you use to keep the room smelling nice? I'm in the market for a diffuser or other room freshener.
My daughter is going into 7th grade this year I hope her math teacher's room is as cute as yours is.
