Summer Declutter - Craft Closet

The craft closet was a reorganization/purge that was spurred on by G's room cleanout and refresh.  She had a TON of art supplies in her room and we decided to move these down to the craft closet which, in true "if you give a mouse a cookie" form led to an overhaul of this space.

I don't have a before (it wasn't awful, but it for sure needed a purge) but here's the after...

This over the door wrapping paper rack has been the star of the show for years.  I'm convinced that there is no better storage solution than these door racks (I have one in the pantry as well) and can attest to their quality and longevity.

This closet is GREAT for what we use it for because it's all built-in shelves.  I store a bunch of craft supplies, office type things, photo albums, etc in here and the shelves are awesome.

I bought a couple packs of these little containers to sort and hold a BUNCH of markers and stuff that Griffin had and they worked out perfectly!

I like that you can take a whole stack of just one container out and they're the size of a pencil box so they're not super giant.  All of the other containers have come from other random spots over the years.

I have bins of construction paper and other misc art supplies which have come in handy on many a school project.  As my kids have gotten older I've bagged up things that they no longer use and given those to teachers who use them in their creation stations ;) and they've gradually been replaced with extra poster letters, various cardstocks, etc.

The top shelves hold old yearbooks, photo albums and a few boxes of old photo prints and then the blue bins hold party stuff (i.e. cute halloween napkins, nutcracker cupcake toppers, that kind of thing as well as a few little gift items I keep on hand).

I use these holders to hold scrapbook papers and card stock papers...

... and this acrylic organizer holds laminating sheets, labels, sheet protectors, etc.

And here's the aftermath.... three bags of trash and a bag of donate!

It felt good to get this space cleared out and cleaned up since it was one of the bigger projects on my list.

I'll update you with the rest of my projects next week!

HAPPY Wednesday and happy decluttering, friends!
