Three Things - First Day

Yesterday was the first day of school and I still can't believe it!  I've made an annual tradition of sharing three things about each of the kids on their first day and so that's what I'm up to today!

- LEARNERS PERMIT -
Luke is officially a permitted driver!  He got her permit last month and has been practicing on the road ever since.  Let me tell you - teaching a kid to drive has NOT been my favorite parenting task to date. hahahaha. He's doing great but it's kind of terrifying ;)

- STUDENT GOVT -
Luke was nominated by his classmates and then voted into a student government position for his class and with that and being a student ambassador he's been spending a lot of time at school helping teachers out, painting over senior parking spots, etc. I can't wait to see what the year holds for him!

- SPACE -
After three years on the same part of campus with me, Luke is off to the high school portion of campus with a little more "space".  I'm excited for him!!!  He goes on retreat this week WITHOUT ME and I'm so pumped to get to hear about it from him instead of being there too ;)

- LEARNING CURVE -
Speaking of space... Mason had his first day with me as his math teacher annnnnd he said it was awkward. hahaha. I think he'll settle in just fine but for now, it's not his favorite. hahahaha

- ART CLASS -
Mason decided to switch out of band this year and try out visual art and he is SO EXCITED!  The teacher is great, he gets to be in the high school art room and he can't wait to get started.  It's so fun to see him so excited about it and I can't wait to see what he creates and learns this year.

- ENTREPRENEUR -
Mason has been working on a business venture that he's hoping to debut this Fall.  His cross country meet schedule is cramping his style a bit but he's working through the details and logistics and is ready to start making that money! ;)

- BIG DOG -
Griffin is officially a "big dog" on campus and she can't wait for all the fun events this year.  Our school does a really great job of letting the 5th graders lead and she is READY!

- NEW TEACHERS -
Griffin has always had the lowdown on her teachers before she has them since the boys fill her in.  Most of the time she's familiar with the teachers, classrooms, etc. but this year 2/3 of her teachers are new (well, one was here last year but she's new to our family since neither of my boys had her) and she has been SO NERVOUS about it! I don't think I ever realized just how "comfortable" she was being the third and I love that she's getting to experience this year a bit more on her own.

- DANCE! -
Volleyball is starting back up next week and G is adding Jazz and Musical Theater to her classes this year.  She is absolutely giddy about giving these a try!

- YEAR 18 -
Year 18 is underway and despite doing this for as long as I have I still feel like I'm learning and figuring things out.  I've been using Google classroom since 2020 and this year my goal is to switch over to Canvas.  If you use Canvas and have tips and tricks email me!

- TOO HOT TO WALK -
Rosie has decided that it's officially too hot to go on walks.  She'll go to the stop sign on our street and then just stop and sit and won't budge.  Praying it gets a little cooler soon since we all enjoy our post-dinner walks!

- ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING -
Only Murders in the Building is back for season 3 and Dave and I are debating whether we should watch weekly or save it and binge later. We're rewatching Season 2 now and I'm not sure we'll be able to wait and binge ;)

HAPPY Thursday, friends!!!

  2. I love Only Murders in the Building. I'm torn too as to whether I will watch weekly, or wait and binge! I will probably hold off a few weeks and cave in and watch!

I wish you and yours the best school year!

    Much love, Lora
