Fun on the Fourth

Happy Thursday, friends!  We had a WONDERFUL and fun Fourth with friends and family and I hope you did too!

We made our way downtown on Tuesday morning for the McKinney parade.  This is one of our longest standing traditions and is something we all look forward to.

Lots of jeeps...

... lots of cute floats...

... lots of flags...

... and lots of old cars.

This year there was even a church ;) hahahaha

And we ran into lots of friends which is always sweet.

We started off the parade with two kids...

... since Luke was hanging out at breakfast with some of the high school cross country team

(how funny is this pic - this sweet lady was walking in and they asked her for a pic and she obliged!) hahaha

My mom picked him up and offered to take him home, take him to our house or take him to meet up with us at the parade and he opted to head downtown.  MADE MY DAY!

I know high school is going to be a few years of prepping for him to go off on his own and we always encourage friend/school stuff so it was extra sweet that he wanted to catch the end of the parade with us.

When we got home the kids got ready to get in the pool and I put my "Pinterest Mom" hat on and got lunch ready.

I know that this looks crazy BUT it was all the "regular things" I'd normally put out for a grab and go poolside lunch but presented in a fun way with things I already had on hand.

THIS. MAKES. ME. SO. HAPPY.

And my kids get so pumped despite it being the normal things I'd put out for them to make a plate from anyway!

Paper products are from Sprinkle Bash...

We ate, swam and then headed over to a friends house for dinner.  I took approximately 3 pictures.

This one of the vegetable tray I put together...

... this one of G and their new puppy (OH MY WORD!!!)...

... and this one of G holding a sparkler.

BEST NIGHT!

And for a little extra festive fun, we had my parents over for dinner on Monday and decided to kick off the holiday a little early with some strawberry crisp...

... cute table decor...

... and party crackers!

We usually do these at Christmas and when I think about my childhood I will forever think about those little paper hats that come inside ;)

HAPPY Thursday, friends!!!

  1. We also love the crackers. A favorite set we had was a whistle band. Just saw a photo of a reception where crackers were provided and everyone wore the crowns the whole dinner. I'm secretly hoping one of my kids wants to do that!
