Three Things

- RECORDER BLACK BELT -
Griffin has been working her tail off on the recorder and has achieved recorder karate black belt status ;) She has LOVED learning how to play and we have never heard more Amazing Grace than we have in the past few weeks!

- EARRINGS -
Griffin got her ears pierced a couple of years ago and has only really changed her earrings out a few times.  She's extremely squeamish and has zero pain tolerance so it's always been easier just to leave her little studs in.  Well... in the past month she's decided that she's an "earring girl" and has had the most fun changing out her earrings to match her outfits and has been letting her friends help her decide which earrings to wear every day.  SO CUTE!

- LYRICAL -
Griffin is currently taking ballet and hip hop which she has done for the past few years, but she has decided that next season she wants to switch out of hip hop and try out lyrical.  I think it's just the flowy costumes that are enticing her but I'm here for it!

- TRACK UPDATE -
Luke decided to try out track in addition to golf and has been LOVING IT!  He's been running in multiple events every meet and even tried out hurdles yesterday and got 5th - which is pretty good for a kid who had never hurdled anything up until 12 hours prior ;). Proud of him for trying new things!

- MATH OLYMPICS STREAK -
I know I mentioned that Luke was competing in Math Olympics for the 6th year in a row... but I don't think I followed up with the results.  He ended up placing first in Math Reasoning for the third year in a row which was such a fun way to go out.  The competition is only for 3-8th grades and next year he'll move on to TAPPS academic competitions!

 - NEW PHONE -
Luke's big present for his 15th birthday was upgrading his GABB phone to an iPhone.  He had NO CLUE this was coming and his reaction was priceless.  I'll share details in a later post if y'all are interested, but he's been loving having a few additional apps (still no Safari or social media) and has a pretty legit Spotify playlist happening.

- GOLF UPDATE -
Mason made the golf team and has been ROCKING IT!  He's placed second in two out of the three tournaments he's played in and has a blast out on the course.  He has a tournament today and then again in a week or so and we're pumped to see how he ends the season.

- TYPING -
We've found Mason's achilles heel... and it's typing.  He loves a LOT of things in life, but typing isn't one ;)  He's pushing through it and it's character-building but OH MY WORD the struggle is real!

- CHEETOS -
I spent a good amount of time filling Mason's easter basket with things that I thought he would love and in the end, hands down, his favorite item was a bag of Trader Joe's baked cheetos.  Seriously.  He was so excited and I've decided that next year I'll give him five bags of those and call it a day ;)

- CHIPS ESCAPE -
Well... not the update I was hoping to give, but Chips (one of our box turtles) somehow escaped their enclosure during the winter (or possibly the Fall) and made a run for it.  We really thought that he was hibernating along with our other turtle, Queso, but, alas... we emptied their enclosure of EVERYTHING and he was long gone.  It's honestly impressive because he had to have scaled a wall, dropped down 2 feet and then booked it somewhere in our yard.  We're still crossing our fingers that maybe he'll show up and we talk often about his life in the wild that he's living.  Live free, Chips!

- OUTDOOR CAT -
Jelly Bean has officially moved outside for the season.  Not full time (she comes and goes as she pleases) but she has definitely been loving the warmer weather and the bunnies that goes along with that.  She only comes in when she wants a cozy and cool place to nap or a free snack ;)

- FREE REIN -
Rosie turned 3 in March and officially has free rein of the house during the day.  We close off my office and put a laundry basket on the stairs to keep her downstairs but other than that she can do as she pleases.  And by that I mean sleep on the leather chair in our living room the entire day ;)
