Halloween Ornaments

I debated sharing this project until my Halloween tree was up and ready BUT I was too excited and wanted y'all to be able to get a head start on making some if you have plans to decorate for Halloween once October hits.

I've had this Halloween tree for years and years now and made some really cute photo ornaments back when my kids were much younger.  Since then I've put some photos in little black frames on the tree but nothing was cuter than the handmade ornaments.

Well - my Halloween tree got a bit of an upgrade this year thanks to a janky stand and dead lights and in preparation for it's big reveal I decided to make some more ornaments to hang on it once it's up.

Here's what I used... not including some regular squeeze bottle glue.

I picked up these little guys at Hobby Lobby and then got to printing some photos on our home printer in 2.5 x 3.5 size.

Step 1 - trace the wooden shape onto your scrapbook paper

Step 2 - cover the wood with mod podge and press down your paper.  Use a thumbtack to punch a hole through the paper so you don't lose the pre-drilled hole.

Step 3 - when that's dry do the same on the other side and then layer on one of your printed photos.

Step 4 - Cover the entire front and back in mod podge (waiting for one side to dry before tackling the other)

Step 5 - embellish with glitter, paint, etc.  Use wire to create a jump ring you can attach a ribbon to in order to hang.

ENJOY!

Mine are still in progress a bit but I can't wait to get them on the tree and share the finished look with my bigger and fuller tree.

Some of my very favorite memories are Halloween and I can't wait to have lots of them on display in a fun way!  My plan is to get everything wrapped up and ready this week/weekend and then I'll share next week.  If you end up making these (or something inspired by them) let me know!
