In years past I've shared my "You, By the Numbers" get to know you activity and this year I decided to create something new since my 8th graders this year did my you, by the numbers activity last year. I pass this out on the second day of class and give them a couple of days and typically a weekend to get it done and the only requirement is that they show some effort.
They can draw, color, glue down printed pics, etc. The goal is just that I get to know a little bit about them.
I write a sentence or two on the back commenting on their drawing or something that we have in common or that I think is interesting and/or cool.
It gives me a little insight into each kid and I absolutely seeing what they come up with.
