Back to School Brinner

Last night was one of my very favorite night's of the year.  I LOVE all things back-to-school... it's the new supplies and the anticipation and the fresh start.  It's knowing that fall is coming (I know, I know) and it's the bright colors and I just love all of it!  We started our "back to school brinner" (breakfast for dinner) tradition several years ago when I really wanted to do the fun "first day of school special breakfast" but our first morning are always crazy... so we just moved it to the night before!

I've tried changing it up a couple of times and the kids are having NONE OF THAT so the menu stays the same year.  Cinnamon rolls are always on the menu...

... and sausage balls are the other non-negotiable :)

I use  THIS RECIPE and I tripled it this year so that we had LOTS of leftovers for easy breakfasts for the rest of the week.

The sausage balls (and scrambled eggs) are really the only thing I make which makes the dinner simple to put together.

I use the 15 cent pocket folders as placemats and this year I used some scalloped chargers I found at Homegoods a while ago and some apple plates from Sugarboo which I think are SO CUTE!

I used some small plants, globes and faux apples on the gingham runner...

.... and used the same pencil clips (Target Dollar Spot a couple of years ago) and name cards as last year (last year they had everyone's grade next to the name and I just cut that part off - hahahaha)

I took one photo of everyone at the table and it's a winner :) hahaha

We eat, chat, talk about what we're excited about for the year and pray.  For our kids, their teachers, their classmates, administrators, etc.

It was a super sweet time and I'm so glad my kids enjoy this tradition as much as I enjoy putting it together.

Happy Tuesday, friends!!!

  4. What a fun tradition! Do you make your sausage balls the night before or do you make them in the morning? I’m gonna have to try them.
