Go-To Breakfast Casserole

You'll need 1 tsp dry mustard, about 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar (or, like me, whatever amounts you have left in your fridge), 1 lb of browned sausage, 6 eggs, 2 cups of milk about 5-6 slices of bread.

Spray a 9x13 with cooking spray and then tear up a bunch of bread to cover the bottom of the pan.  I'm pretty sure my original recipe called for 3 pieces, but this is 6.

Sprinkle the browned sausage over the bread and then top it with cheese.  I had a few random bags with little bits left, so it ended up being about 1.5 cups.

Whisk 6 eggs, pour in 2 cups of milk mixed with 1 tbsp dry mustard and whisk it some more.

Pour the egg/milk/mustard mixture over the top and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

It comes out cheesy and bubbly and delicious and perfect every time.

It's great for the morning but makes an easy dinner as well!

Enjoy!

  1. This is my sister in laws favorite thing EVER. She makes it every Christmas Eve.

  2. We make this as well but we use tater tots (the coin shaped ones are best) instead of bread!

  5. I LOVE breakfast casseroles, but no one else in my family is a fan! I could eat this by myself in one seating :)

  6. Love this. You can also use any kind of croutons and my recipe calls for mushrooms. Never use them because we don’t care for them.

  7. Is love to try this recipe...does it taste like eggs? Or is the consistency like a bread pudding?
