Weekend Top 10

The weeks feel like they have been FLYING since Halloween and we've been trying to make the absolute most of our weekends.

Friday afternoon Griffin had a birthday party and she came home high on friend-time and cupcakes :)

Our plans changed at the last minute on Friday night and we ended up eating pizza with Mason and G - not mad about it :)

Saturday morning we found Buddy ready to go to the country to see Gibi and Haha and hang out for a bit...

We did some cloud-gazing...

... fire starting...

... turn signaling...

... hammock swinging...

... trail clearing...

... and helicopter spotting.

We played my new FAVORITE game... dog groomer  (this is the equivalent of when they were all smaller and I used to lay on the couch and be the patient when they were doctors - hahaha).

Saturday night we visited Vitruvian Park to check out the lights...

... and it didn't disappoint!

This tree is always my favorite.

On our way home we swing through Legacy West and as we were driving Mason goes, “THAT’S DUDE PERFECT!!!! Can we go say hi?!?!?!” Dave stopped the car, the boys and I jumped out and Mason realized he only had one shoe on.  By this point Dave had already driven off (you can't really stop and park on this main road area so he was going to circle around) and so Mason was faced with the dilemma of introducing himself with one shoe on or hopping back in the car when Dave came back around without saying hi.  He opted to say hi (and tell him that he had jumped out of the car with only one shoe) and he couldn't have been nicer.  The whole thing was less than a minute and I think both boys are still beaming.

These two bonded over their love of Christmas trees...

... and we headed to the square to grab some presents for a gift exchange and ride the carousel.

I don't know how many more years I have of carousel-riders so when they asked I was happy to oblige!

This guy has already aged out of the carousel.

And they obliged me with a couple of group pictures.  Sigh.  They're getting so big!

In true 2020 form our small group Christmas party turned into a driveway gift exchange but we still had the best time and this was the only photo I took.

HAPPY Monday, friends!!!

  2. Just very curious-seeing your pictures for the last week or so—are you guys not required to wear masks any longer? We are probably headed for a shut down again and I’m just in awe of how different each state it when I see things on blogs and Instagram. My kids haven’t seen friends or been to a birthday party since March. We haven’t seen family or gone to church in person. Maybe I need to move? The virus is raging here.

    2. the virus is raging in Texas, too...McKinney must have magical fairy dust sprinkled on it that keeps them safe?

    3. I live in Texas too and we wear masks all the time.

    4. We live in California and our lives are so different from everyone else in the country. I hate it here. Now we are in shelter in place again. We can catch a break. Texas has much higher cases but they are living life. AS WE SHOULD ALL BE!

    1. They were both there (one was taking a pic with his wife so we didn't bother him) but this pic is with Coby!

  4. I am living vicariously through your pictures! Today we started another stay-at-home period through Jan 7th. No gatherings, masks are mandatory, school continues to be virtual and there is a 25% capacity limit on all retail establishments. Stay safe!

  5. Yes, are they not required? Science is...science. We know how masks work to protect others, and ourselves. They should be worn everywhere you see people outside of your nuclear family. I am in New York, our numbers, like everyone else's in this country are climbing. No birthday parties, holiday get together's, no unnecessary shopping..not even visits to grandparents. Does it suck? Absolutely. Is it necessary? Absolutely. When reading some of these blogs its as if covid doesn't exist. Magical thinking.... I sincerely hope you all stay safe, but it is so disheartening to see people drumming along, business as usual....

  9. Hi Andrea! I am writing from your homeland Canada. I too am in no way judging or shaming, but curious as to how the pandemic is being addressed in the south - out of honest curiosity. I am fascinated to see people allowed in restaurants and team sports. I can't stop staring at the pictures, lol.
