Multimedia bird art

Happy Tuesday, friends!  The kids did a really cute craft project last week and today I'm sharing the details because it was SO MUCH FUN and really easy.

The first thing we did was create some textured papers using 12x12 scrapbook papers and acrylic paints.  They used different brushes, cookie cutters, sponges, paper towels, a fork, etc. to create papers that had visual interest and texture...

I showed the kids a couple of examples of how to cut out the body of the bird and then let them go to town!

I loved how unique each of theirs turned out...

and if you're looking to frame a set of art this would be perfect because even though they're all different they all use the same papers so they would look perfect framed together.

Griffin has had the same black and white photos framed in her room FOREVER and she's wanting to change them out to art and this was the first one...

Isn't it fun?!?!?

This same technique could work for flowers, trains, insects... anything!  We saved the extra paper so I'm sure this won't be the last time they craft like this.

Happy Tuesday, friends!!!

  3. Wow, those really are nice looking...you've got quite the gang of artists there on your hands. Ha! And just curious, is Griffin ambidextrous?
