Friday Favorites

GUESS WHAT?!?!  School's.  Out.  For.  Summer.

< insert praise hands here >

My report cards are done, the kids have finished all of their assignments and we are ready.... to hang out at home just like the past 2.5 months :) hahaha

Erika and I are so excited that lots of y'all are linking up with us and if you're linking up with us make sure you grab our graphic, link back to one (or all!) of us and share your own Friday Favorites post.

First up on my list are Dot's pretzels.  I've seen them on multiple people's social media pages and never really paid much attention.  I was in the grocery store last week for the first time in FOREVER, saw these and decided to give them a try.  I still prefer my honey mustard and onion pretzel pieces BUT these are so so so good too!

Griffin's teacher hosted a tie dye day in her front yard this week and it was G's FAVORITE day of the week.  Her class had earned a tie dye party earlier in the year and her teacher wanted to make good on their accomplishment so we signed up for times and got to tie dye!

I can say pretty confidently that her FAVORITE part wasn't the tie dye but getting to spend time with her teacher.  SO SWEET!

We finished up some pool plans this week and the kids dubbed our appointment "the best meeting EVER" :) hahaha  Meetings where you get to swim are their FAVORITE!

This little girl is growing like a WEED!!!  She's been our FAVORITE part of sheltering in place for SURE!

I mentioned a while ago that G has been having some pretty vivid nightmares and this week she was up several nights in a row which led to a really sweet afternoon nap.

Nachos from one of my FAVORITE local places (NomNoms if you're in McKinney and haven't tried them out!) this week was a highlight...

Yesterday afternoon was one of my very FAVORITE moments from this quarter.  There was a "senior sendoff" at school where the seniors all parked in the student lot and then TONS of friends and families from school drove through and cheered for them.  I can't imagine losing out on the end of your senior year like these kiddos are and it was such a sweet time to get to acknowledge them and cheer them on.

The parade was a steady stream of cars for well over an hour - I may have cried on our way out of the lot.  There's something special about a PK-12 school and seeing so many people (lots of families of younger kids who don't know the seniors but just came out to show their love!) was a reminder of why we love our school so much.

One of my FAVORITE assignments of Griffin's from the past few weeks was this handprint...

... until I realized that LUKE'S HAND IS BIGGER THAN MINE!!!  I mean - when did that even happen?!?!?!

 HAPPY Friday, friends!!!

  3. It looks like you guys had a great week! Question about your Fiddle Leaf, I know it's been around your house for a while, how often do you water? Did it come in the basket container, or did you purchase that somewhere? :)
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks! We water it once a week (maybe less depending on if the soil isn't dry yet) and the basket was a Homegoods purchase.

  4. And soon Luke will be taller than you! The senior sendoff is so sweet. My daughter is a senior, and we are hoping she will walk the stage in June at a delayed ceremony. Thanks for the fun link up. Have a wonderful weekend! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road

    1. I have a feeling that day is coming sooner rather than later, too! Our school was able to have graduation tonight! Family only, masks, etc. but I know how excited those seniors are! Hoping your daughter gets to walk in June!

  6. I'm from ND and Dot's pretzels are the best. It's hard to stop eating them once you start. We have another awesome thing called Chippers up here which are potato chips covered in chocolate - again you can't stop eating them.

    1. I hate that! I definitely don't mind her coming into our room but just wish I knew of a way to help her.

  8. I'm a relatively new subscriber to your blog, and I have been wanting to tell you about 2 things that have made a difference in my life. (1) you posted the sidewalk chalk mosaic that your kids did. So the Easter Bunny left my 11 year old son a big pack of sidewalk chalk and we made a beautiful mosaic on our driveway apron on Easter day. The neighbors all love it, and my son and I had such a nice time working on it together. Over the following weeks, we have loved biking around our neighborhood seeing all the "copycats" ;) So thank you for that idea! (2) you posted about the colored post-it system you made for your son's distance learning. I was REALLY struggling to keep my 11 year old (who has ADHD and anxiety) on track while working full time at home. We were fighting constantly, it was awful. I asked him if we should try your system, and showed him your blog. He agreed. It has worked WONDERS for us!!! He is about 80% independent on his schoolwork now, for the first time in his life! No more yelling! No more frustration! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  9. OMGosh your pool!!! That just isn't common in VA like it seems to be in TX. Of course we don't get TX heat and we have quite a few bodies of water around. Is it a ton of work to maintain?

    1. It’s not a ton of daily work (cleaning and balancing chemicals) but there’s definitely upkeep and wear and tear which is what we’re dealing with now

  11. Hi! This is my first time stopping by and linking up! :) I love the senior sendoff your kids' school had! I went to a K-12 school for high school, and it was definitely a unique and special experience--and some girls I graduated with had been there all 12 years! That tie-dye day sounds so fun too!
