Easter/Spring Books

I changed out books out on the playroom shelves last week to feature some of our new and old FAVORITE Easter books.

I put our Valentine's books away and put out a few Easter books and the kids have been choosing them for reading time this week. 

First up is  E is for Easter and even though it's a board book it's one of Griffin's favorites.  The illustrations are kind of vintage-looking and it's just a sweet book.

Bunny Roo, I Love You is a new one at our house and while it's not particularly Easter-y it's still a sweet little Spring book that will for sure tug on your heart strings.

I picked up  "It's Not Easy Being a Bunny" a while ago and it's great for early readers.  The story is fun and encouraging and it was an easy addition to our Easter books.

Believe it or not we didn't have a copy of  The Velveteen Rabbit and even though I tear up at certain points it's still one of my favorite books EVER.

I couldn't find the exact version that I had as a kid but the illustrations in this one were beautiful and were reminiscent of the version I remember reading with my mom.

I mean - do you even have an elementary-aged girl at your house if you don't have all the various holiday Pinkalicious books?   Pinkalicious Eggrastory Easter was a great addition to our bookshelf.

The Easter one didn't disappoint and even comes with stickers :)

Here Comes T-Rex Cottontail is so fun and funny.  Peter Cottontail is sick and so the T-Rex fills in and hilarity ensues :)

The Good Egg is SUCH a good one - especially for elementary aged kids.

"The Good Egg does everything he's supposed to, is helpful, and follows the rules. His buddies...not so much. They show bad behavior a lot of the time, and even though he tries, the Good Egg can't keep the peace. He becomes so frazzled and anxious his shell starts to crack. He decides he needs to take care of himself for a change. He travels, goes on walks, reads books, and over time starts to feel good about himself again. And his cracks heal. Missing his friends, he decides to go back, but he resolves not to worry about what the others do as much as before. He knows they'll still do bad things every once in a while, but, hey, nobody's perfect. "

Easter is Coming is new to us this year and it lays the Easter story out simply and beautifully...

As does  The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story. 

I mean.  Who doesn't love The Berenstain Bears!

Now I'm going to share a few of the Easter books I shared last year because they are SO GOOD!

The Garden, The Curtain and The Cross is hands down the BEST Easter book I've ever read. 

I think if you're going to order one book from this post it should be this one :) 

It starts in the garden, explains how sin separated us from God and how the curtain represented that.

It goes into Jesus and the crucifixion and how on the cross Jesus did away with the need for the curtain.

The illustrations are beautiful but the message is even better.  I really can't recommend it enough!

The Biggest Story  is one of my new FAVORITE books.  I tried explaining it on my own but the Amazon description does a way better job than I was doing ;)

Luke read the entire thing over the course of two days and Dave and I have both read it since and loved it.

And it doesn't hurt that the illustrations are GORGEOUS!!!

I want this nativity scene framed and in our playroom at Christmas... isn't it fantastic?

Last, but not least, is  God's Very Good Idea.

And again I'm going to quote Amazon...
