Chocolate Fudge Bundt Cake

A few weeks ago a co-worker brought in some leftover cake that she had made over the weekend and none of us could stop talking about how AMAZING it was!  She graciously shared the recipe and when I needed to bring a dessert for a lower school teacher luncheon yesterday I decided it HAD to be "the cake".

Disclaimer - my pictures STINK because it's been raining here for like 7000 days and I made this at night.  But I'm sharing anyway because y'all need this recipe in your life STAT!!!

Here's What You'll Need for the Cake
- 1 chocolate fudge cake mix
- 1 large box instant chocolate pudding mix
- 8 oz sour cream
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup oil
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup chocolate chips

Here's What You'll Need for the Frosting
- 1 stick butter or margarine
- 4 Tablespoons cocoa
- 6 Tablespoons milk
- 3.5 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

Here's What You'll Do
Mix together the cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream, eggs, oil, water and chocolate chips.  Pour the mixture into a greased and floured (or sprayed with Baker's Joy!) bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

Seriously - that's it.

Once the cake is cool, flip it out of the pan and prepare the frosting.

Heat the butter, cocoa and milk on the stove until they're melted and hot.  Pour that mixture over the vanilla and powdered sugar and mix until smooth.  Pour the frosting over the cake.

This made a RIDICULOUS amount of frosting and when I make it again I'll probably cut the recipe in half OR pour more of it into the middle so when you slice into the cake it spills out and you can scoop it up.

This was seriously the most moist and delicious cake EVER and I'm already thinking about when I can make it again. :)

Happy Baking, friends!

  7. Sweetened or unsweetened cocoa? I’m thinking unsweetened, but I’m no Betty Crocker!

  9. I have been making this cake for years and it is always a hit! I also make it with yellow cake mix and it is wonderful as well. It is so rich, sometimes I just sprinkle with powdered sugar instead of making the frosting and it is just as good!!

  10. This sounds so good. I saved the recipe. I don't have a bundt pan. I've never owned 1, but maybe I'll have to get 1.

  11. Do you cool the cake before frosting it ? Also, do you cool the frosting before pouring it over the cake? I can’t wait to make this.
    Thank you.
