Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends!  This was the LONGEST week of all time.  We had a short week the week before Christmas, then two weeks off, then the first two weeks back at school we had both of the Mondays off.  This week seriously felt like it was about 4 months long.

The good thing about a super long week is LOTS of favorites :)  As always, Erika, Narci and I are sharing our favorites and we'd love for you to join in!

Mason's class has been studying snow (ironic since we're still waiting for ONE SINGLE SNOW DAY!!!) and he brought home this super cute art project this week...

... it's my new FAVORITE piece and I'm trying to figure out how I can pull it out every year (I'm thinking of making it into an ornament).

This made me laugh SO HARD this week...
... it's funny because it's true :)  (PLEASE tell me y'all watched Dragon Tales with your kids!!!)

I had a student tell me that I looked like Jessica Day from New Girl and it may have been my FAVORITE moment of the week :)

And Dave's mom sent me this picture that she took at his Grandma's birthday party last week and I love it so much!  Make sure you check out Grandma's remote control on the side table :)

Dave was off on Monday and he spent his day doing car stuff (he FINALLY got his windshield replaced... remember it pretty much shattered last year.... yeah... he's been driving with it like that for close to a year!) and catching up on work in his office but he swung by school and picked Griffin up at the end of the day for some one-on-one time while the boys had after school stuff.  She was SO EXCITED!!!

Griffin's been having some weird sleep stuff this week (not wanting to sleep in her own bed, wanting to sleep with her brothers, bad dreams, etc.) and while it's been frustrating at times, when she came and crawled into bed with us at like 11 on Tuesday night instead of taking her back up right away we just snuggled and it was the BEST.  We did put her back in her bed later but only because she takes up more space than Dave or I - she's a "sprawler" ;)

Tuesday I had a conference with the Developmental Optometrist that Mason saw and the appointment was right smack in the middle of the morning and took over an hour and a half so I took the day off and it was AWESOME #praisehands  I did NOTHING for like 2 hours in the morning (I had grand plans and ended up literally laying on my couch watching nothing worth watching and it was incredible).  I walked out my front door at 10 a.m. with a big 'ol smile on my face because peace and quiet is kind of a glorious thing every once in a while.

After Mason's appointment I met one of my FAVORITE people for lunch on the square and it was a total treat.

I headed back home to get a few things done and then Dave and I picked the kids up from school and we headed BACK to the optometrist.  This girl did NOT get glasses, but trying them on was her FAVORITE. (I'll share more about what's going on with Mason after we have some time to kind of process - promise!)

Last weekend I picked up this glass jar with tulip bulbs and they started blooming this week and I almost teared up because they're my FAVORITE color!  Tulips are super special to me and when these just popped up in my favorite yellow/coral it was extra sweet.

I wore one of my  FAVORITE easy dresses this week - it's $40 on Amazon and it's extra swingy and light.  I wore it with a Matilda Jane lace extender, olive tights and clogs.  LOVE!

I mentioned earlier that we're completely and totally obsessed with The Greatest Showman well this week I haven't been able to stop watching the workshop videos (thanks, Sheaffer!)  This one is my FAVORITE and I totally cried when I watched it!

So 105 degrees in August isn't my FAVORITE but 60 degrees and sunny in January totally is!
#godblesstexas

The best way to grade papers in the evening?!?!  With a few of my FAVORITE people snuggled up next to me :)

Whenever we go up at night to check on the kids before we go to bed we always find Mason in the craziest positions and the other night may have been my FAVORITE ever :)

and this picture that his teacher posted made us all laugh out loud :)  He goes, "what am I doing with my eyes, mom???"

One of Luke's FAVORITE toys to play with are Snap Circuits and this week he hooked  this kit up with the iPad and made a whole little lights show to music.  So fun!

If y'all think about it say a little prayer for Luke today - he's competing in the Area Level spelling bee and it's his first ever academic competition experience.  He's not nervous - but I am :)  Dave's taking him and we're proud of him no matter how he does (of course!) but it's an exciting day!  This weekend I have a baby shower to go to (SO EXCITED FOR YOU, AMY JO!!!) and I'm taking Griffin to a special youth ballet performance Sunday afternoon.  FUN FUN FUN!!!

I hope y'all have an awesome Friday and get lots of family time in this weekend.  I know I've said it before but I want to reiterate how incredibly grateful I am to y'all for reading and following along with my blog and our family.  It means the absolute world to me and I appreciate it so much!

Happy Friday, friends!

  2. Friday Favorites is MY favorite! 2 questions- where is Griffin's little blue nightgown/pajama top from? It's so cute! Also, do you think the snap circuits would be interesting for older kids as well? We had the one with the bell several years ago, but the lIght one looks even better!

    1. Thanks! It's from Matilda Jane and I totally think Snap circuits would be great for older kids - I think there are more involved sets as well that may be perfect.

    1. Thanks, Cheryl! IT's the chateau parka from J.Crew. I've had it for a few years and so if you go back through the last couple of winters you'll catch it in several posts :)
